I have used both OS. In term of performance, Windows 7 is a lot better compare to Vista.

Yeah... I have tested installing Windows 7 on a machine with a 512 MB RAM and it run without any problem.

Well as what Dynashox had said, Windows 7 is by far better and faster than Windows Vista. It's more of an upgraded, faster version of the ol' Vista with lots of enhanced features.

Running Windows 7 for a few months now, it appears that it's a lot less buggy that Vista

Not only do I find Windows 7 to be less buggy than its previous counterpart, it makes working online more efficient. Multi-tasking is simplified with the ability to put two Microsoft Word and a browser window side by side. In previous versions of Windows, this was not possible.

I totally agree with the multitasking. I can have several windows open with great efficiency. I liked Vista when I had it though. 7 is just better.

Windows 7 is way much better compared to Vista. In Vista I experience occasional lock-ups when I'm still using it, but with Windows 7 I haven't had any issues since I installed it and my computer runs faster now.

I like window 7 which has a gorgeous effect that attracts my attention since it is released. Of course it is better than Vista, for window 7 is just updated base on Vista. To some extent, both has the same structural core.

You cannot compare W7 and Vista because W7 provides stability of Win XP and looks of Vista with bugfree experience.

    Hi Asmar757.

I don't believe you can run Windows 7 on a machine with only 512mb ram. All of the stats I see on new Windows 7 computers boast RAM in gb's, not mb's.

It runs pretty fast on only 512mb. I've seen people install it on a machine with 512mb (required to install w7) and then run it on only 256mb of ram. It is not only possible but it actually runs pretty fair on older systems providing a decent enough pentium 4 processor is installed.

Without doubt - Windows 7 is streets ahead of Vista, its the same code base as Server 2008, and was re-written from the ground up :)

You cannot run them good on 512 MB ram whether Windows Vista or Windows 7. However, I would give a vote for Windows 7 over Vista, a completely over. Vista was really sucks and made me went back to Windows XP before go again with Windows 7.

As per my opinion microsoft might have released Vista when the world is not ready. The world is not ready for powerful operating systems. Vista operates well on fairly good PC. Even all of the high end games works fine on vista. in upcoming windows 7 they might have downgraded some of the power to give extra speed and added some of the tools which feels 7 is the better one. This dosent mean Win 7 will not do someting windows vista can do.
