Marketing a Hookah Reviews Blog?

I am working on a new hookah website currently, and I am looking for some advice on the best ways to market it.

What I have done already: submit to dmoz, submit sitemap to google, wordpress seo, digg submissons, social media marketing (facebook, twitter), and setup a rss feed.

What else can I do to to gain more visitors in your opinion?

Why?

There are HUNDREDS of other directories out there that will actually approve your site in a reasonable time.

So if you are submitting to any ONE directory, then submitting to the others is equally worth your time...

Besides, the time it takes to get into the ODP is often YEARS, and not submitting often has the exact same success rate!

So go on, find other directories! Niche Directories are even better if ya can find one.

I am putting out 2-3 articles a day right now, what directories should I be submitting to?

I also just did 50 pages, a page for each state of all the hookah bars.

 

i would suggest putting 4-5 fresh articles per day on your site, submitting them all too social media/bookmarking/networking sites, create a twitter, facebook etc..

 

Buy ads on a pot community site.

 

-start commenting on other blogs that are related to your niche (hookah blogs or marijuana blogs or cigar blogs etc). Leave your link in your signature and make sure you leave useful comments. Over time you will build a relationship with these blogs and you will be able to work together by linking to each other and helping each other out whenever it's needed.
-write articles and submit them to article directories, and have these articles link back to your blog. This will increase your search engine rankings and will give you more traffic from google and yahoo.
-Submit your site to Reddit, stumble-upon, digg delicious etc.
-get involved with forums related to your blog, and again leave your blogs link in your signature.
-search for other blogs related to yours in google, and e-mail these blog owners asking for a link exchange.
-there are also lots of other directories (as everyone else suggested), that you should submit your blog to. Just google something like "list of directories" and submit them to as many as you possibly can. This will just give you more backlinks and more exposure

When I write a new article, I post a link on the facebook page for it, which automatically posts on twitter as well.

Why? This is not related to pot at all.

 

Yet pot smokers use hookahs. You already have ads for "legal buds", put two and two together.

 

Hookah 101 is way cool! You should hold a contest or referral program where it motivates people with the similar interest telling more friends about your site.

 

I just ordered 3 hookahs and a ton of shisha that I will be giving away. I am looking for people to submit reviews and video reviews, and promote the site.

I really wouldn't do a separate page for each state. It doesn't matter to the end-user (there are better ways to target than by state) and it's a waste of time that would be better spent elsewhere. Also it dilutes the SEO because it divides it by 50.

 

If I was to list all of the hookah bars on one page you would be scrolling forever just to get to a specific state, what would be a better way?

 

Have you thought of creating a top list with is own domain and use that to generate traffic?

 

Some of my methods seem to be working, I am getting around 50 uniques a day now, some good hits from google, and getting more facebook fans.

 

If you want to go with a top list, let me know. I use them to trade links and it works pretty good. Your niche would work too.

 

First you have to figure out if ideally you would like most of your customers to find you through search engines, or if you would rather reach out to them. Personally, I would do a combination of both, but reviews your analytics reports often to see which one is more effective for you.

Once you figure out which is more effective for you and which ones convert more sales, focus on that strategy.

If you find better sales conversions through organic search results: Keep submitting to article directories like ezinearticles and goarticles, comment on relevant blogs and link back to your site, guest blog post on relevant blogs, make sure you are targeting proper keywords and your SEO is top notch

If you find better sales conversions with active advertising: Test out Admob, test out adwords, test out facebook advertising, test out direct mail campaigns.
