The next thing to ditch is Wikipedia ;-)

I am glad you get this rise also, pjman. For me the whole June-July is a dream scenario. Rising to 16 000 unique a day.

Thanks George. I'm glad your living the dream too.

I'm with you on the Wikipedia. Sometimes it is helpful though. They just have to use it more intelligently. Check out SEM Rush numbers on Wikipedia. They shot up after Mayday, big time. I honestly think that one day Wikipedia will be monetized. They change the content and privacy policy and add ads at some point. I think that's there game. Make themselves irreplaceable with trillions of links and monetize. The infrastructure has to be enormous and costly to run.

I guess, it will become so, indeed, in a few years. But then, Google will slash them back. Currently, Google applies a sort of rising coefficient to them (since they are a social nonprofitable service). Once they shoot for money, Google will remove this coefficient, and WP will become just a very good website with good ranking, but not on PLACE#1 for any keyword anymore.

I'm sure you are right, but you can't beat the concept of a free way to get a gazillion links. They do need to work on the coefficient a bit to make sure they don't come up for bogus searches like you said.

Google does the same with major brands and they are for profet. Google will slash WP once they have their own clone up and running. So far they have had some failed attempts.

I finally understood why this "end-of-love" to twitter and facebook has happended with Google recently. They both are trying now to compete with Google on his own field - with their 'semantic search' innovations. Google is smart and is evil - "guys, not allowed, bye-bye".

John, I think you are right here in your predictions. Thats how any business works - "you are a friend until classified as a competitor".

Here is the thing I still don't get about Facebook-Twitter-Google Sage:

    1. Why hasn't facebook added a simple web search function to their site? An instant billion dollars and direct adwords competitor tactic. I advertise with FB and they are OK, but if you gave me the ability to come up in real searches, I would use it much more.

My Guess, they are waiting until they become totally irreplaceable.

    2. Why hasn't google gone more social? They started to do it with results and buzz. It bothers me, like why did it take Gmail so long to be launched?

    3. Why hasn't facebook just added a mini app of some kind like a Diet Facebook preference, so that you can just use it to mimic twitter. Would there be any further need for twitter?

My traffic has increased some, the key is consistent promotion.

    Interesting questions, bro.

    1. I guess the TW-FB ambitions are huge. They are already outperforming Google with respect to number of daily visitors. But they want to outperform Google with respect to number of milliards earned per day. Therefore, they decided to go into the search and adwords competition with their own products.

    2. Google is trying very hard to get into the SN field. But since they also try to get into travel, radio, navigation and other thousands of fields - they are overloaded and not successful. No focus - no business.

    3. Thats I really do not know, cannot comment on it.

Great thought. I'd say the same is true of my business. Never thought of it that way.

I remember when google first came about and I said "That's the end of Yahoo and Alta Vista". Now that I see FB, I'm saying the same thing about Google.

Google got it with perfecting search, but FB is basically making a platform that people live on. They are the Internet to many people. All the other sites are just tools they use for a specific purpose.
