Please explain Google Ad Words to me...

I looked at Google Ad Words and need further explanation.

If I have a a web site that offers a business opportunity and
I'm looking for the unemployed or students to learn about the opportunity,
So, for example, I selected the keyword tool, and entered the search phrase
"part time jobs". It shows 1,500,000 Global monthly searches and it shows "best part time jobs" 1,220,000. So what does this info mean to me?

Is it suggesting that if I use the words "part time jobs" in my Google ad vs. using "best part-time jobs" (in the ad) then theorectically I should get more exposure?

Also, "looking for a part time job" got 1.500,000. Is using a longer search term in my ad a good thing? If so, why?

    Thanks

Ok I'm pretty new to AdWords myself but this is what I've gathered so far:

Keywords with less searches (as long as it's still a healthy amount) in theory have less competition from other people trying to show ads on them and therefore end up costing less to get into the good ad spots.

Having your keyword(s) in your ad title is good for getting to that top spot, but not 100% necessary as long as it's relevant to the keywords you've set.

In general people say longer keywords are better unless you have a huge budget, because they're more specific.

Example: People searching for "part time jobs" could be looking specifically for something they can do from home, for example, whereas that search would bring up everything and ads advertising other part time jobs would be wasted. Whereas if your keyword is "part time jobs from home" then you know exactly which market you're advertising at.

Also longer keywords tend to have less searches and therefore less competition, but obviously in your case your keywords are so generic that they both have tons. You could try things like "part time jobs for students" etc. Remember you can add multiple keywords you're not limited to just one.

Think about what you are offering and then think about the best keywords to describe your offer.

e.g. If I was looking for a job I'd have an idea of what i'd like to do, so is "part time jobs working from home" a better description or "part time jobs for students" or "part time xxxxx jobs"

Being to generic with your keywords generates lots of impressions and lots of clicks, however it also (most of the time) generates a higher bounce rate which signals a waste of your budget.

More exposure doesn't always mean more money. As the other posters said, the more specific your keywords are the better.

There is a huge gap between a business opportunity and part time jobs. You will have to do some more research in the area of the keywords you will end up using.

There is quite a bit more you will need to learn about Adwords before going into it. A single post will not be enough for you to get all the info you need.

I suggest you spent sometime here: http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=webinars.cs . You will get the basics to get you started.

Then come back here to get more specific advice.

I believe that it means that there are 1.5 million searches on ave per month to this keyword phrase. I believe you are correct that there is more opportunity for clicks when you have keywords that are search 1.5 million times compared to 1.22 million times a month.

I am new to Adwords and I have had no success with it at all. The visits have not been of quality so far.

Higher search volumes are (in theory) more opportunities for clicks BUT there is more to it.

Higher search volumes may mean more competition - therefore your ad has to offer something more attractive that your competitors.

Then of course your landing page has to make it easy for your visitors to get what you offered in your ad. That's why very often sending your visitors to your homepage is not really effective.

Yes it means more exposure and probability of your ads visible in google adwords. But it is combined with many factors like quality of your keywords, ad campaign, landing page content, bid amount, etc.,

Pl reach out to me I can help to setup your campaigns.
