For my website http://www.freebie-link.com/, I have been building back links everyday for around 6+ months, I've used social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, I update daily and my site is easy to use. Yet, I haven't seen an increase of traffic yet and I'm starting to think it wont ever happen.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Am I not doing something I should be doing?

    Please help!!!

Tell me what exactly you've been doing till now.
Your products are CPA right? I would be very careful with CPA as it just gives people the impression that you're trying to lure private information out of them. In my eyes a blog/site should contain a lot of content and CPA should be used very wisely. Have you even optimised your site with keywords? Are you on page 1 of google for any of those keywords. I suggest you get some more keyword rich content in there like an article for all free different things.

I'm sorry, it's very noobish of me but I'm not sure what CPA is =). Also, I do have keywords and I'm on the first page of google for a few keywords. Also, what exactly would you suggest with the article?

    Thanks for your help!

CPA is a way of earning money by getting people to give away information about themselves. For example "In order to download this file put in your phone number, 4 digits will then be sent. Insert those four digits". CPA varies - bottom line is it's companies that give you x cents/dollars every time one subscribes/fills in a survey. Something that the company will either earn from in the long run or the short run. It's very common that they ask for a phone number because then they can keep billing 1.5-6 dollars/week or somethign like that. Of course it's written with small letters at the bottom of the page.

Since you know that you are on the first page of Google for a keyword I assume that you are using a reporting system that also tells you how many people are searching for that keyword. In general it is inevitable that you will get a percentage of that traffic by virtue of being in the top ten search results. On the other hand, if there is very little traffic for that keyword, a percentage won't translate into many visitors. You have to rank for keywords that attract traffic. It is just inevitable that you will get more traffic as a "good" keyword on your site moves you closer to the top of the search engines, but they have to be "good." For example, I have a site that ranks 1, 2 or 3 in Google search for at least a half dozen keywords. However, I get more traffic than all of them combined from one other keyword on that site because way more people are searching using that term.

    Dear Freebielink,

I've had a pretty thorough look through your site, your Twitter page and your Facebook funpage. A few things come to mind...

First of all I have to say I really like the idea behind your site and I think it's really got a great potential. You see, people LOVE free stuff. And that's what your site is all about. Big time. :) Now let me ask you 2 very important question:
-What is your business model? How exactly do you monetize your site?
    -What's your target audience?

Think it over please and please reply me back. Meanwhile I've got a few ideas which can really help take this site to the next level:

1.Right now you're using Blogger right? If so, I would suggest you move to a hosted solution. Get a hosting package from Hostgator or Hostmonster and install Wordpress. Then move your domain there. A bit of a pain, I know. You will basically need to rebuild your blog on WP. But it will be worth it. On WP you'll be able to use a nice and clean SEO theme, and you can install a few essential SEO plugins. Once you've moved over to WP talk to me and I'll guide you through the next step.

2.A few flaws in your site copy are a real turn-off for those who do get to your website:
-There are many typos in the titles as well as in the offer descriptions. Examples: 'Free Sample Of GinZing Freshing [Refreshing] Eye Cream' 'with this coupon you can get this product for very cheap (close to free) [Next to nothing]!'
-In general I get the feeling that the person who writes the content is not a native English speaker. That's absolutely fine, but it's worth having a professional writer or better yet - a copywriter, to go through the text. Right now it's not enticing. It doesn't flow and it doesn't 'sell'. The product descriptions are not consistent, some are more detailed than others, but in general the descriptions are pretty poor. People love details! Also, if you start a description by telling me that 'This coupon expires on September 1st, 2010.' (Nexcare Bandage Product) I'm not going to get it! You've already put me off before telling me any benefits! Benefits first, downsides last.

3.One thing you really need to do ASAP is:
    Start building your list!

Once you (Hopefully) get your own proper hosted WP blog, have an opt-in box on the top right with a free offer, maybe a report with tips on how to find free offers online, or a few really cool vouchers or a chance to win something, all in return for the person's name and email. You have to do that and build your online asset this way. There's plenty of people who would love to get an email every day with a free offer/voucher. I would, if it were relevant to me. The same goes for your FB and Twitter pages: Have an opt-in box to collect people's emails.

4.you're saying that you've made a lot of link building and social media efforts. Can you be a bit more specific? Link building is effective when it comes to one-way links from relevant sites. As for social media - I think that's where you really want to focus. You can really kick b*** using social media. Right now you have around 330 FB fans and 1100 Twitter followers. I think that with some efforts you can have at least 10 times as many followers and fans. Go to this link:
    http://www.socialmediaexperts4u.com/
(Not my site and I'm not affiliated) Opt-in and you'll get a few invaluable resources on how to make the most of Twitter and Facebook.

I've got a lot more ideas but I don't want to overload you with information. Let's get your (Or other people's) feedback on that and take it from there...

Well, my target audience is anyone in the U.S. however, it is mostly females who use my website. Also, I monetize my page through adsense, but I only have one add on the right side of my website.

And about moving to wordpress. I have SEO readied my blog since day one with many different guides. I know many popular blogs that use the blogger platform. And honestly, I'm a 16 year old boy so I can't really pay (no credit/debit card) for hosting.

I actually am I native english speaker =), I guess I need to work on my grammar and spelling. Also, thanks for the advice about the benefits first.

With the email building list, why is building up email addresses beneficial for me?

When I build links, I try to do it on other freebie sites or sites in my niche using a comment system. I also however build links on any site that allows me to add my URL in a comment using freebies or free stuff as anchor text.

If you have any more ideas or need any more information from me, please help me out!!! Thanks a lot 1kaday!

    Dear Freebielink,

I will answer you now but I will give you a more detailed answer tomorrow as I'll have more time.
    OK:

1.If your target audience is US females, obviously you need to pick only offers which are relevant to them. I guess you say: Daaa... Well, it is important when it comes to monetizing. You're saying that right now you're monetizing your site through Adsense. Are you happy with your income? If you're seeing this as a business rather than as a hobby, I guess the answer is No. Here's my suggestion: Search for 'CPA networks' on Google. CPA means Cost Per Action. You bring traffic to a page and get paid only if the prospect has taken some action, like feeling a form for example. Many of your offers are CPA but if you used it wisely you could make a lot of money using that strategy! It's beyond the scope of this post to teach the nitt & Gritt of CPA, but go to Warrior Forum and you'll find a lot of info there. Go to http://www.imrannaseem.com/ and get on that guy's mailing list. He's a great young innovative marketer and knows a lot about the subject. Sometimes he sells reports about CPA for next to nothing, if you're on his list you'll be the first to know. You'll need to be accepted to a CPA network, which is a bit tricky but not rocket science. A better business model than Adsense in your case, I reckon..

2.Building a list is crucial to your business. Actually it's probably more important than anything. The reason being that it's your only real asset. Think of it this way: With traffic you rely on Facebook, search engines, forums, blogs and more - all over which you have no control at all. I wish Facebook well but no one guarantees us it's going to be around 2 years from now. Search engines keep changing their algorithms. Blogs can come and go. You see where I'm coming from? The only thing that you can almost guarantee to keep and to secure the future of your business, is your list of subscribers. You can keep marketing to them no matter what. You can send them CPA offers. And they will buy from you if you treat them with respect, they will trust you and reward you.

OK I have to go but I'll carry on tomorrow...

While I am Monetizing with Adsense, right now I'm focused on traffic and visitors, as opposed to income. However, even though it's mostly females that use my blog, I would like to market it for a blog anybody would use, not just females.

It can take some time, make sure you are linking to sites that are relevant to your niche so people are interested in your site and click your link. Try posting on forums and commenting on blogs, this will help increase your traffic.

    Hi again Freebielink,

    Here are some more suggestions:

First of all, make sure you've got your finger right on the site's pulse, by using AWstats and Google Analytics. StatCounter is good as well. Now you'll know exactly your target audience, from which sites and countries they're coming from and a lot more.

Armed with that information you can move ahead:
1.I've done a bit of research on sites which have ranked high for the KW 'freebie', 'hot deals' & 'free stuff'. I believe that if we want to succeed, the best method is to learn from those who are already doing well. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.. Sites which I've checked are:
    Freestuff.com, Totallyfreestuff.com, Retailmenot.com & Magicfreebiesuk.co.uk.
-The common thread is that they all collect surfers' emails, which you should too (As I've already told you;) ). They offer the priority to be the first to know about the hottest deals in return for their details. If you want to save on the cost of an Autoresponder account, you can go cheap: Put an opt-in box on the top right of your site, encouraging people to join your Facebook fan page or follow you on Twitter. Make sure the box stands out, and is attention grabbing. If you're not focusing on income, focus on that. On traffic generation and list building. Best investment you can make, guaranteed.
-I've already talked about consistency. Stick to one format when it comes to presenting your freebies and vouchers. Most of those sites use a very simple format: An image of the item on offer, a short title with the name of the product, sometimes with a few more details in it. As for the description, they normally keep it very informative. Short & sweet. It would be easier for you to do if you're not a copywriter or can't afford one. I liked the site Deals2Buy.com where they give you 3-4 steps you need to do to get the freebie. Go to Deals2buy.com/zero_deals for examples.
-Another approach is to give as many details as you can, and make each deal a feature on its own. See Groupon.com or Groupon.co.uk. You'll need to register with an email to get the deals. The idea is that every day you get an email with a special deal relevant to your city. And if you invite your friends and they take the offer you get a few bucks. Notice the Highlights and the Fine Print sections, as well as What other people are saying - all of which improve the site's credibility in the eyes of visitors.

2.As you've stressed, you're treating your site as a blog. Well, here's an idea:
    Start writing articles.
You don't need too many. Probably about 15-20 would do for a start. Once you know your target audience, you can tailor your articles to them. The advantage of articles are - it will feed the hungry search engine spiders crawling your site for content. Articles posted in article directories (EzineArticles, GoArticles, ArticleBase to begin with), if well written, can drive you massive amounts of free, targeted traffic, and improve your SE (Search Engines) rankings. And once you have an articles section in your blog, you can allow comments which would encourage more activity in your blog and would allow you to interact with your audience better. Download SEO Firefox plugin and thus you'll be able to find High PR (Page Rank) blogs with high traffic volume (A high Alexa rank). Go to the blogs and offer to write guest posts in return for a link to your site. If women are your audience, look for women magazine sites (Glamour, Cosmopolitan and the likes). They all do blogs. Offer to guest post and/or write comments. Normally you can put your website when you write a comment. Go to Magazines.com if you need to find the right magazine. Even daily newspapers like The NY Times, all have blogs and lifestyle sections. And those sites get a ton of traffic.
-You can feature a new article each week, and link it to different offers.
-If you find it hard to write many articles, Google 'how to slap google like a rag doll'. You'll learn how one article can be used for so many other things.
-You can find article writers for cheap on the Warrior Forum (Warriors for hire), on Fiverr and on Odesk. A good writer would charge around $7 for 500 words but you can find for cheaper. Ask for examples and read reviews. One well-written, SEO-optimized article can do wonders to your campaign so it's worth investing a bit if you're not into writing.

3.Each time you post an article, Tweet it and post in on Facebook. Also Social-bookmark it using OnlyWire and then ping everything using Pingomatic or another pinging site. Change the article around a bit and post it on high PR social sites like Hubpages.com and Squidoo.com. It makes sense to post the article to article directories first and only to post it on your blog once the article is approved. Otherwise the directory would decline it as it's a duplicate content in their eyes.

4.Harness the power of YouTube to your campaign. YouTube is MASSIVE. Sometimes it overtakes Google in traffic. And for your kind of offers it would fit perfectly. You can create simple videos when you're talking through the offer, or simply create a Powerpoint presentation and then talk through it. If you want a more dynamic video use the free Animoto tool (Animoto.com). Or use Warriors for Hire to find a video creator for a reasonable price. Use the YouTube Keyword Search Tool to find low competition videos in your area. If you need to bump up your ranking find someone to do it for next to nothing on Odesk.

Hope I've helped you. Feel free to post or PM me for further questions.

    Cheers,
    1kaday
