I rank third and get x what would a position improvement do

Hello - I was wondered about something.

I currently rank third for a search term and get about 50 visitors for a day and this usually gives me about $4 in adsense clicks.

What was just wondering is if I was to move up to second or third how much the likely increase would be? I know its hard to say but in general terms does anyone have any ideas perhaps in percentage terms? I would like to know this as if its significant then I would probably be more motivated to put effort into ranking second or even going after the top spot but I think that might be a little out of reach.

Any useful input is appreciated.

#1 spot gets ~40% of clicks, second some 20 % maybe? You can find the numbers if you just Google it.

 

This is true. I guess your traffic will triple at least.
