I have been working on optimizing my site: http://sunglowf.com since Feb. We did keyword research, wrote relevant content around keywords, submitted to directories, wrote a couple articles and submitted them, commented on forums (tintdude.com and yfzcentral.com), and I have just started commenting on Squidoo and similar sites. We have 60 pages indexed by google, but have few to no links showing on the backlink checkers especially regarding google.... What am I doing wrong? Is there anything I can do to get these links recognized by google? A side question: Are my meta tags formatted correctly for SEO? I do not understand that very well and would like to learn more about it. Thank you, Tim
Sometimes, it can take time for your links to appear in the search engines especially if your domain is young. I would recommand to be patient and continue the good job you seem to accomplish.
you have 89 inbound links...check backlinks through Yahoo Site explorer. The only real way to see backlinks from Google is through Google Webmaster Tools!
That's just bull. Read Google's FAQs regarding links. They even admit themselves that they are not going to show all your backlinks. Also your results may vary depending on which datacenter you're talking to. The bottom line is Google's Webmaster tools is useless for checking links and you should use Yahoo's site explorer.
it takes more time for google than yahoo. now i see your site has some google backlinks, so should be okay in a while, just keep what you are doing.
Closest you'll get, but not 100% accurate. But links don't appear straight away, you'll have to remain patient.
So patience is the key! Is that the same with ranking? I am indexed and have links, so does that mean google will begin to rank me sometime in the future? Or is it possible I have other issues?
It's possible that the sites you are linking to do not offer do follow backlinks like here at DP. My suggestion is to also add a signature link here at DP
When you type link:yourdomain.com on google, google will just list a part of your site's backlinks which it regard as good ones. You can check your backlinks on google webmaster tools or yahoo. But I suggest you to get some good and related backlinks for your site.
Hi, Tim Generally speaking, meta tags would not have impacts on your back links. Might be Google need more times in picking up your back links. I would like to recommend you to register a Google webmaster center account for this purpose. all the best,
