Before I start I am neither attacking nor defending anyone, but I think what omarabid meant was an influx in new members with a poor grasp on the English language, and those generally come from those regions of the world considered to be third world countries, and not a specific one but all of them.

The reasons are not important, that fact that they are causing a decline in quality is, as they do present themselves as writers, which they clearly are not(yet?).

So essentially his statement was correct, and perhaps his words chosen a bit poorly, which is something that happens to all of us.

As for the old members, I have stated this before, I have seen nothing from them, gained nothing from them, and therefor have no need for them. If they moved elsewhere, they are the cowards running away for a situation. Therefore it is their loss, because people without spines, we can do without.

    My 2 cents.

Well i know i dont have a perfect English level but i feel that i have it better and better all the time :)

My bases of English comes from the normal school side by side with TV and music (i am since i remember a huge music fan), in later years Internet and now the fact that i live in Norway (i am originally from Portugal) with out speak Norwegian so all my life is done in English.

I dont think i will ever master the English but i hope to reach same level of it as a "above AVG" native speaker.

If you hand out 2 cents every time somebody has a face off with someone else, you'd soon become as poor as a "3rd world country" and then I can also call you "bad educated" LOL

    I personally consider mysely very lucky when it comes to speaking English;

    1. I was born in England,
    2. I went to a private primary school that specialised in Humanities [Geography, English, Maths],
    3. I went to a follow-on private secondary school that also specialised in Humanities.

Though, I might have been born lucky when it comes to grasping the English language as I was taking part in nationwide English competitions for 13-15 year olds when I was only 10. :)

I have considered many times tutoring online via Skype or on a text based network i.e MSN, AIM etc...

Chill out pal. No offence. I was pissed I made my point and we all take digs at Kraven all the time and you are most welcome to do so too ( only to him LOL). I have no interest in taking the matter further. I hope this clears it all.

I'm not interested in your tutoring.

Sorry to be rude again, but I am going to defend myself in advance.

This post is massively boastful, from someone who is largely irrelevant to the thread.
I believe from reading between the lines that it is a thread that has been written for people mastering the art of the language as a second language and not the language you were born into.

There's just no need for it, and frankly, it's weird.

yeah, you could just go back and edit is . I'm not sure whether you know it already or not, so here it is ....
End the other person(whose words you are quoting) with [/quote] then write what you want and then maybe copy the quote reference (in this case

I want to know who all these people are who 'take pops at Kraven'. Apart from the beer monster, of course.

And did we ever get to the bottom of what Kraven's cat costs???

The cat's rates are fairly low, he makes up for that in other ways

As for those taking pops at me, I wouldn't know I am so fast they don't see me coming, sadly that works two ways, I don't see them taking the pops at me either :D

To first master English articles, you have to learn the basics. While non-English speakers can learn the rules on a conceptual level (a/an are indefinite articles, used when not referring to a specific thing, and the is a definite article, which is used when referring to a specific thing or item), they usually run into trouble when their language (like Polish) doesn't have articles

    First things first.

    NO ONE CAN MASTER ENGLISH

    Reason?

    1. English is a dynamic language and is gaining new words with new meanings as well as new meanings for old words even as you read this.
    2. That being so, no one, and I really mean absolutely no one at all, can ever get to the point of knowing enough about English to be able to be acknowledged as a Master of English.

So who are all those people who claim to have mastered English? Some possibilities are:

    1. People who have died and did not realise it and thus, are not buried yet, therefore giving rise to the impression of being a Master of English. Said Master of English being the state of mind of a mind that has ceased to function. Did I mention that unburied corpses have their own unique olfactory characteristics, too?

    2. People who are still alive but suffer from self-delusions of grandeur. Said self-delusions often denoted by symptoms like appropriating grand-sounding titles like Master of English, etc.

    3. People who create Master of English titles to be sold to people in (2). Said people in (3), of course, having first to declare themselves as Masters of English in order to offer their products to people in (2).

    Hope that is useful.

Basically, education is really a big factor in mastering English. In our school we are trained to speak in English and write research papers, reports, reaction papers, poems and other forms of literary works more often. These help us about the awareness of using English grammatically correct. Furthermore, reading books, newspapers and watching English tv shows would enhance an individual in mastering English. It's really an advantage if you know English because currently the lessons I've learned from my professors and teachers really develop my English proficiency.

Basic English is a key factor for me as a new comer in copywriting, it's really a big advantage for me because I know how to use English words that can be understand by others in lay man's term. In addition to, knowledgeable in English is a profound key in internet marketing nowadays. Because this English is you main tool in order to promote your products and services. “Reading” can boost your English proficiency.

    This old man.

I usually do not mind your posts, and some actually have a little humor.

However this is a learning post, not a chalkboard for scribblers. If you want to be sincere, I am all for it.

If you read my signature line, you will see, that I do not like sideshooters, as this in Q/A means a useless post. Please feel free to post them elsewhere, where maybe they would be appreciated.

There are many here seeking to learn and improve their lifestyle, I am not trying to have you change your ways, but on my posts I have less toleration for those harassing or ruining a post. There is nothing stopping you from making your own post.

I should imagine the best way to master English - as with any new language - is to speak it often, read countless books...and watch movies/TV. Also, having an innate knack for languages would be a big plus. I'm no authority, though - English is my home language.
