http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5 is a great place to start reading about HTML5. Start learning by all means but realise that it's an unfinished standard of HTML right now...
I am also interested in learning html5 and I am currently learning it also but I would suggest you should have good knowledge of html, css and javascript before starting learning html5.I am using html5rocks to learn html5 this website is created by Google to demonstrate html5 power and contains good tutorials.Hope you will find it useful.
Can't wait for all browser to support this along with css3 and i heard the upcoming IE9 will fully support this..and hope will reduce those IE6-8 users
You heard wrong. IE9 will be the last of the browsers to give any type of HTML5 support and will not do everything. Remember that IE is always a decade or more behind all other browsers when it comes to supporting anything.
was searching at google the other day and found a link that IE9 plan to support html5..not sure how it's going to work after release...meanwhile i stick with firefox, and chrome
best place to learn and know what is difference between html5 and html4 http://dev.w3.org/html5/spec/Overview.html
Supporting HTML5 can mean they support a couple things and that's it. Why does everyone worry about IE9, which won't be out for a year or two, when all the other browsers support HTML5 and all other modern technologies today (and even months to years ago). Microsoft doesn't have experience in modern web browser creation and hasn't made one in 10 years. Don't count on IE9 being any good either.
New Features Some of the most interesting new features in HTML5: * The canvas element for drawing * The video and audio elements for media playback * Better support for local offline storage * New content specific elements, like article, footer, header, nav, section * New form controls, like calendar, date, time, email, url, search
All of those features have been available in every browser EXCEPT IE for months and years and people wonder why I say IE is the worst browser on the planet.
Hi buddy there are a lot of sites for learning HTML5 specially w3schools is good educational site of web technologies you can learn from here and if you want some advance use and proper implantation of HTML5 then you would have to search tutorials and trips and tricks so google this query but i would like to share with you some helpful links of tutorials hope you will like these Link1 -|- Link2 -|- Link3
The information found on the following link contradicts what you've stated: http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/ Also bear in mind that HTML5 is still under development and lots of things could change by the time the final version is released. Although remote, it is also a possibility that development could stop as it did with XHTML 2. I'm in no way a fan of IE. I personally use Opera and think it's the best browsers developed to date. Just wanted to share this info with DP users.
Imagine that. Microsoft says IE9 is wonderful. They're raving about the things they show you. They're silent on the things they don't show you and they're not showing you a lot. Rather than reading Microsoft's advertising, read a third party's actual data. It gets worse the further you scroll down but compare IEs overall performance to where ALL other browsers are today. ALL standards are based on implementation. NO standards are implemented afterwards. HTML5 will not be completed until there are two COMPLETE implementations by browsers. For example, CSS2.1 was only finalized about 3 years ago.
Learning HTML5 would best be a gradual thing. I did a video blog not long ago: http://www.crearedesign.co.uk/blog/videos/creating-validating-html5.html That explains the very basics of creating a HTML5 with the new DOCTYPE and how W3C handle and validate HTML5 Pages. James.
HTML5 is to 2010 as Web 2.0 is to 2006, an over-bloated buzzword. I know everyone is going to hate on this post, but now is not the time to be concerned with HTML5. Unless you're designing a website specifically for developers and designers the majority of your users wont see the fruits of your labor. If the vast majority of your demographic isn't using an HTML5 compliant browse you're pissing away potential conversions.
Another amateur statement by you. HTML5 will be a web standard. The term Web 2.0 is not. I'll alert Apple, CNN, the NY Times, the BBC, Google, and all the others who are currently serving HTML5 pages. All modern browsers (not IE) handle the stable portions of HTML5. Modern browsers make up almost 50% market share. But your mis-statement goes beyond that. You wrongly think using HTML5 disables all the other elements and wrongly think pages will break because of it. You show you're talking about something you know nothing about and I advise you to do a lot more reading before you make anymore silly posts such as this one.
Its just a new standard for HTML. They offer some cool new features. My favorite is an easy way to create rounded borders. However, like others have noted, not all browsers support it yet...specifically IE. You can find .htc files to hack certain styles to work in IE though.
