Hey, I decided to change my domain and I redirected the old URL to the new one, as it's a forum all the old threads redirected to the same thread with the new domain. Now I had PR2 and quite a few backlinks for my old domain, will they be carried over by search engines to the new domain. As in will Google, Yahoo etc recognise the new domain as PR2 with the same backlinks? I thought this would be the best place to ask as its most closely related to this topic. Regards,
make 301 redirection that google does not hit 404 pages you will loose pr and postitions but after a short period you will be the same like you are now
Some PageRank will bleed through.. Matt Cutts explains it does not pass ALL PR: Google Confirms 301 Redirects Result in PageRank Loss
Hi, Right, a 301 redirection from the old domain to the new one would be the best choice under your condition. But, I think some deep back links might lose since you might not have the same site navigation system as the old one on your new sites. all the best,
Thanks for the input, I have made all the redirections 301. That explains quite a bit, hopefully I can rebuild the PR quickly. The site is exactly the same, I just changed the domain so there shouldn't be a navigation problem? I changed the domain for keywords and SEO, it's a much better domain and easier to remember
