Open a Paypal account and give your email id to the payer. The email id is your login id for paypal and the payer has to use it to send money to your Paypal account. You can withdraw your funds in Paypal account...Paypal sends you a cheque in rupees. It takes around 20 days to get the cheque delivered in India.

Have you registered for PayPal first of all. And are you verified, or unverified.Having a Canadian bank account doesn't affect the ability to receive payments in India.:)

"Paypal sends you a cheque in rupees. It takes around 20 days to get the cheque delivered in India" - would it be faster if we use the Canadian bank? I mean we can then wire the money from canadian bank to our AC. Would that be a costly affair?

Do you mean you will request a cheque from Paypal to be sent to your adds in Canada? If yes, then I guess it would be alot quicker. Someone from Canada would tell you how many days exactly.

I think he is saying that he has a friend who has a Canadian bank account. He probably wishes to transfer funds directly to the bank account instead of ordering a check.

Well the thing is your canadian friend cant accept money on regular basis on your behalf... I mean once in a while is okay if he does it regularly he has to declare it to Revenue Canada which means 40% will be going to them if your friend has another job and has some income. Your best bet is wait 20-30 days and get checks delivered to you address in India. This will be legal as well.

Yes you can use his account and he has to add his account to his paypal account which will take 3-5 days(one time) and then you can get cash probably in 5-7 days after that (3-4 days for wire transfer from paypal to bankaccount and 1-3 day through western union he your friend can withdraw same day and send to you)

LOL!!! NO, I receive cheques from Paypal every month & I know I dont stay in the US :p. BTW the link you showed me I guess talks about withdrawing money in form of a cheque. Paypal does not transfer money to Indian banks yet. I am not sure about Canada...I feel even Canada is not allowed cos when I goto add a bank account to my Paypal account ...it says "Add a Bank Account in the United States".

Well...this link answers it all https://www.paypal.com/row/cgi-bin/...e_page=_display-withdrawal-fees-outside&flow=

No wire transfer for NON US banks.

Do you have experience using paypal. I want to open a paypal account but i feel a bit edgy due to scores of complaint i have read about paypal. Also i want to know how i can operate a paypal account from india.

I want to put a payment button on my site but i have some experience with paypal which stops me from doing so. I had previusly a paypal account and i recieved money from someone but could not accept it as i did'nt had a CC.

Is it necessary to have CC to recieve funds? is there a limit for it?

BTW as far as i know a direct bank AC transfer is possible for US/UK/Canada

If you are not from the US, you probably need a credit card to verify your account. There is a limit on how much money you can receive or send if you are unverified, the limit is lifted once you get verified.

I believe only US citizens can verify their account via a bank account.

Although Paypal is accepted in 55 countries, it does not allow you to withdraw money to any account in any of those countries. Basically, if they allow you to withdraw to a local bank, it would be withdraw to a local bank or a US bank.

If you do not sign up as a canadian, you cannot add a Canadian Bank to withdraw to, only to a US bank and your local bank.

Surfearnzone, I think your inability to receive money probably stemmed from the fact that you did not have a Premier/ Bus account and your client wanted to pay by Credit card via PayPal.
There is no need for a Credit Card to receive money upto a certain limit, but beyond that you need to get verified. That limit is 500$ per month and $3000 for lifetime.
