    link exchange with relevant category site is the best method of gating google. link exchange should be with high PR site . Post some quality article in quality site like EzineArticles .

    I'd avoid link exchanges, they are pretty inefficient nowadays. Start building relationships with other sites/bloggers in your niche and work on opportunities where they can link to you.

    Instead of working on making contacts with other bloggers or writing on Ezine Article write 10 to 20 decent articles on your blog. You can do well if you write something which is unique and new believe me it can work lot better than anything else.
    Delibrate linking and bookmarking may increase your Page Rank but I have found that there are many websites with high PR which don't feature in the first page of google search. Even low PR websites do better than high PR websites for the same keywords, with the quality of content.
