Hi All, Please tell me how to do step by step organic seo competition analysis for a given site with a given keyword. What factors should be used to determine organic competitors.please mention the importance of parameters for analysis.
The number of results may be misleading. Example: There are only 1 million results for a phrase using allinanchor (to see number of anchors for that phrase) . You think you can win this. Turns out the site in first position only has a small fraction of their links with that anchor, and it's a PR 6. Let's also assume they have the bulk of the anchor text phrases. Lets say they have 30k links for that specific phrase. Now you still only see it as 1 million results, but little do you realize the site has an immense lead, and the bulk of this phrase. Granted this is rare, but can show how misleading the search results can be when gauging competition.
I use market samurai. Of course You can do it by hand. When you do it manually asses your competition by: 1) links with anchor you want to target 2) domain age 3) Page Rank 4) on page factors like: title, heading tags, description There is a plugin for firefox available on seobook webpage that will nicely show you all of the data from points 1 to 3.
You can use tools like IBP, webceo and seo elite. But to use their full functions you have to purchase them. Its better to manually analyze them. You can use Foxy SEO Tool, a plug-in for Mozilla Firefox, to get to analyze the website on page and off page. This plug-in has a Search Spider Simulator under Tools menu. This will help you to analyze on-page activities. This too have off-page tools for analyzing your competitors. Similarly, there are many other free tools available.
ADVANCED WEB RANKING is my tool of choice. Thankfully my company purchased it - it's very expensive so it's not really an option for personal use! xx
Well it is very long and really difficult to explain completely. But a complete white hat SEO includes a organic SEO. If you google it will be much better.
Given the keyword, generate top 10 related keywords. Make a spreadsheet that details the top 10 sites ranking on each keywords including the make keyword. From the competition table created, identify top 5 sites that prominently appear in each keyword. (I usually take the top 10 results for the main keyword and increment a vote on each once found ranking on related keywords) Once you have the top 5 competition, you can go analyzing them however you want. But I usually check the number of backlinks their ranking URL has, the age range of the domains giving them backlinks, the PR range of the backlinks they have, the average link weight they gathered from their backlinks, percentage of the authority sites linking to them, percentage of the relevant sites linking to them, their domain age and other factors that could help me figure out what exactly they are doing to advance in the competition.
