Hi there, I have been contacted tons of times these days by Blog owners who own Dating and Gambling Sites. I Have Linked them from One of my Sites, and got a Return Link to Another site of Mine. I got around 10 Homepage Links from Gaming, Gambling and Dating Sties I was One the First page ( 4th Position ) of Google.com After a little bit of Link building, But after like around 10 Links from Dating and Gambling Sites, All above PR 3 atleast, My SERP has been dropped to the last result on 2nd Page. Why is this.. ? Is this coz my competitors started working more than me, Or is it Because I got Homepage Links from Pr 3 and PR 4 Dating Sites.. ?
Not necessarily... maybe... who knows? Without your URL, everyone here would only be guessing. I will say that PPC sites (pill/pharma sites, porn sites, and casino sites) are NOTORIOUS for using SEO techniques that violate Google's Webmaster Guidelines. As such, I would HIGHLY recommend NOT linking to them at all. Should you link to a Casino site that gets caught violating Google's Webmaster Guidelines, YOUR site can be penalized as well for promoting that site (unless your link to them is a NOFOLLOW link). However, I would say dropping to the bottom of the 2nd page doesn't sound like a penalty to me. Typically you will drop 30, 60, or more spots (thus the name -30 penalty, -60 penalty, etc.) Could be that you lost a strong link or two with the keyword phrase as the link text. But again... can't really help without a URL and the exact keyword phrase that has dropped.
Hi, In my own experiences, any sites with a PR of 3 or 4 would definitely not be treated as bad neighbors in Google's eyes. Thus, those new links from dating or gambling sites would not be the reason behind the SERP drop, IMO. all the best,

Anywayz, Here is the Link : http://www.streamlivesports.com - Live football streaming is the keyword m working on. One thing I have recently Changed on my site is, I Had a Simple Text Title which was " Live Football Streaming" - My site title and The keyword m Working on, But it was looking kinda unprofessional, So i removed the Text title and Replaced it with a JPEG Banner. The Site title is still the same ( live football streaming ), but the difference is that its not appearing on the Site Header. Can that be a Cause of SERP dropping ? I have recently also added many Pictures on My blog which are hosted on another Blog, But the link from the image is removed. So does adding Outside pictures effect SERP ?
Pr 4 Can also be bad neighbours.. Well if they were Pr 1 2, i would consider it bad, but even Pr 3 and 4 :$ ? Hmm, thanks for Your opinion..!
Link quality is a fact in Google.. links should be from good neighborhood...So may be the gambling and dating site links causes the problem
@Khaludi92 I have been reading around the net. Everybody is experiencing SERP drop and personally I have seen a competitor's site from page 2 to rank#2 . Google is doing algo updating. A friend called a Google local office and that's their answer.
I would suggest that link exchanging in general is a bad idea. It's hard to say if links from a dating site will harm your site as we dont know what type of site yours is (I'm guessing its not dating?).
Well, Even i have figured loads of new Sites on the first page who weren't even in the 3rd page before. But the question is, How sure are u that these changes are temporary.. Or are there chances of these changes being permenant.. ? lol yea its not dating site. Its a soccer site. Link on the footer....
I don't think gating the link with 3pr and 4pr is bad for the google ranking. you have to take links from site that relevant to your site theme. Avoid receiving link from other category sites.
most online casino sites are getting backlinks from different high PR sites which includes computer sites,gadget sites,hotel sites or sports sites. Maybe its working for them as they are doing good in their keywords.
