Do you get penalised for having a domain like that? (S-E-O.co.uk) It's nice as a brand, but do the dashes get in the way when it comes to the search engines? I'm asking because I got an offer for it on sedo and I don't know how much is reasonable. I tried asking in other forums but I didn't get an answer, so I thought I'd ask here as it's SEO
S-E-o.co.uk . Personally I never like such domain. What does it means ? Will people will search for S-E-O in google ? Does it contain any keyword?
You bought this domain only for selling? If you bought for your self it was an unwise choice. You should have considered sort of: companyname-seo.co.uk or souch. If you have bought it only for selling, then it worth as much as people would give for it. Or at least the price of a domain registration. Cheers,
It's supposed to be a flashy way to write SEO No, never No. As far as I know, individual letters aren't keywords. Is that right?
They will be known as Keyletters. lol. @OP - domains having the term SEO doesn't get penalised and I don't see any reason why they will be.
The dashes will be seen as word separators. No penalties for using dashes in domain names, but personally... I dislike hyphenated domains. Love hyphens in the path portion of the URL, but not my domains. No one is going to give you a price you should ask for the domain if you want to sell it. It's hard to put a price on it. Just get the person interested in buying it to make you an offer. You might find that they are willing to give you MORE than you thought it was worth. If you give them a price first, you might be leaving money that could have been yours on the table.
S-E-O will be treated as SEO only. It's a nice way to get onto the top with your domain name with targeting SEO as a keyword. As everyone will be using SEO simply and you are doing same but differently. That will be beneficial in getting rankings. Thanks
NO! it will not. google will never consider the domain for the term SEO due to the use of dashes in between each letter. there is no kw in the domain at all because of using the dash. using the dash to get a kw rich domain is fine if you dont get the entire kw in the domain, but using dashes to break up the single kw is useless in terms of SEO
I think the domain itself is pointless anyway, well if you're really thinking of wasting a couple of dollars then it might make a good blog domain solely for SEO. Unless of course you're planning on using that for a wedding themed website/blog. lol!
Just try and search for S-E-O and you will get all results related to SEO only, so that means it's treated as SEO. Thanks
If google can take numeric domains why not domain with dashes??? If you can go with dashes in the internal page urls then why not with the domain?? Thanks
yep, i think that's what happens so then the term isn't there in google's eyes, but it is in human eyes, making it easy to remember
At the end of the day, although the keyword isnt in the domain, doesn't mean you can't have a go at trying to rank highly for the term itself... So no harm either way. Most my sites rank for their targetted terms and have no sign of the keyword in the domain.
