    BATTERY 101 PART 1
What really makes the Laptop or Notebook really portable is its Battery. Remove the Battery then you are indirectly removing the Laptops portability. As human beings we need energy to survive which is form of the food we eat. Similarly a Laptop needs energy to survive. The energy a Laptop needs to survive comes from the Battery which is made up of chemical juice (Lithium Ions). This chemical juice operates optimally at particular conditions. Hence we need to take care of it. Now if you take away the battery of a Laptop, you are taking away the life of the Laptop. We can then understand that it is the battery of the Laptop that keeps it alive.
Since Battery = Life of Laptop it simply means that No battery = Death of Laptop. Because batteries are so important in the existence of a Laptop we definitely have to take care of our Laptop battery.
HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR LAPTOP BATTERY
I observed that many Laptop owners do not really care for their Laptop batteries. You might wonder why? It is simply Lack of information. So i am going to be giving you several tips on how to take care of your Laptop battery. I am going to cover two tips in this Part of the article and continue in subsequent parts. So watch out for Part 2.
    TIPS
    1) NEVER ALLOW BATTERY TO DRAIN COMPLETELY
Lithium ion battery is the technology used in modern Laptops. Squeezing every drop of its juice (chemical) weakens and strains the battery. Hence cumulative drain of the battery will shorten the life of the battery and eventually kill the battery.
    2) NEVER ALOW THE TEMPERATURE OF THE BATTERY TO BE TOO HIGH OR TOO LOW
High temperature breaks down the battery and reduces its overall life expectancy. Always make sure the vents are unblocked and also never work with a Laptop on the cushion because if you do so you will be blocking the vents in the Laptop. If you are wondering how to check the temperature of your battery you could get a software to do that.

Would like to add more info to save battery life. Points are as follows:-
    1. Don't use Laptop battery when external power sources are available.
    2. Remove and place your battery in safe place when laptop is not used for more than 5 days.
    3. Never expose laptop battery to extreme heat or extreme hot condition.

If one takes care of the above point given by emydigit and the points given by me, laptop battery life can be increased.

I have a habit of keeping the laptop on charger most time of the day. Even when I take the laptop off, the charger stays connected to the power outlet and so mine has finally gone bad in just 18 months. Had to buy a new charger. Thought I will share this information.

Nice points but what I believe is these batteries often end up getting complications as they ages and all you can do at that point is replacing it!

I suggest if you are using your laptop into your home, do not use your battery instead remove it from you laptop and directly connect the charger to your laptop so your laptop's battery will not over charged and over used.

There is one more tip: you have to unplug the power when the battery bar indicate full. So your battery will have long age and still work properly.

    take care of laptop battery?
    Just remember:
1,Reducing battery charging times as possible as you can. Because those li-ion battery pack only have limited battery recycle times.
2,Alway keep the li ion active, make them move willingly even you don't use them at all.

Good information. Thanks. Another thing is not leaving your laptop charging. When it's done charging take the charger out completely. When it needs charged put it back in. :)

tip: when working on your laptop at home, dont put the battery, directly connect it to the charger. This way you will save battery. And DO NOT charge the laptop unless the battery the battery is completely discharged- improves battery life.

from what i know to take care a Battery is never overheated, never charge your battery for a long times that the manufacturer suggest in the manual book.then your notebook battery will last longer and never run out fast.
