Hey Shawn, Perhaps, its difficult for me to visit forums.digitalpoint.com when i am in college or at away, since i have pc in home. You have great ideas, good implements, why dont you make a shorter version of mobile, so that we can check, directly in mobile itself. Perhaps, i know that it is stupid question, and definetly it work. But i just want to suggest. If it is mobile version, many people can easily browse from mobile phones, and send pms directly. In this way, we cant loose clients, by not giving response. What do you say?
Well, if you are using a JAVA phone you can use Opera Mini! DP works well with it! You can also reply to PM's with it.
But if we enter direct url, Dp Loads Normal Page on Mobile. In this way, it costs lot of data charges. The Size of the DP is 216.68 KB. In this way, data charges will be lot and lot. Thats what i am worried. So, is there any chance where we can reduce size of dp in mobile format.
Well assuming your cell phone uses HTTP 1.1, the page size is more around 25k since it's compressed in transit. Either way, we had a mobile style we used with vBulletin 3.x and we plan on adding one back for vBulletin 4, but the vB developers are working on a mobile version, so going to wait for that one rather than spend all the time beforehand.
Turn images off in Opera Mini ! And don't open it in mobile browser. Always use Opera Mini! And data transfer will be around 50Kb or less in it.
I agree we need a mobile version. But what I really want is an Android/iPhone app for DP. I think an app that just was for our inbox would be extremely useful and would be somewhat simple to do.
But i do not have opera mini browser, i do have samsung mobile phone, but no opera browser installed. But i think there is no images in dp, so whats use if we turn off. @ digitalpoint. You are exactly true. If you are developing a mobile version style of dp, i will be one of the happiest person to visit dp on mobile. In this way, lots of people will surely visit dp.
No mobile has it pre installed. But you can install it manually! Just go to mini.opera.com with your mobile and download it. And then you will enjoy surfing on mobile like PC.
