How major? How many Y! hits for your targeted search phrase? More than 100 million?

Just the basics: write articles and submit (I use isnare and articlemarketer), submit to directories and post, post, post to DP forum.

The thing here is to be constant. If you think you got the keyword made, think again. There are thousands of competitors and you have to keep up the work all the time or they will take away your positions.

    A very respectable number.

My greatest achievement in Y! so far is the #2 position out of about 101 million results for a very competitive, 2 word phrase. I'm quite pleased with the #2 spot; #1 would be nice, but as long as my site is above the fold on a typical computer monitor -- i.e. the top 5 spots -- it's all good, IMO.

Congratulation. Are you in the Yahoo! directory? I heard that it is a important part of ranking high in Yahoo.

Good news ... but wait until you realise that Yahoo sends very little traffic.

I discovered this after taking the top spot for several keywords (see my Sig for two examples! :) ).

Y!' may send less volume than G, but Y! traffic converts better, in my experience. Even MSN traffic converts better than G (for me, anyway.)

Not necessarily. Many sites rank well in Yahoo! without being in the directory. Also, look where in the directory you are going to be. If you know you are going to be placed in an established, good PR page, that's fine...but if it is a PR0, is it really worth it? Yahoo! does not give any preference to directory sites. If it did, ranks would be skewed. Also, remember you are competing with Search Submit sites which appear in the non sponsored results. These sites have their content refreshed more frequently and pay Yahoo! when clicks are generated...

I am interested to see what you consider a major search term. How did you determine it is a major search term?

Hey Winagain , did you publish the articles first on your site and then distribute them or did you use them for distribution purposes only?
