Good day everyone! Today I received an email from another webmaster asking for a link exchange (with my week old site). Out of curiosity, I decided to do a little research on the website in question. The website currently has a PR of 3 and is highly related to my site. With that said, I am a little confused with this request. For starters, why would this person want to exchange links with a new site like mine? How would it benefit them? After all the site has a PR rating of 3, and mine is a big "0". This exchange seems like it would be beneficial for me, and not so much for them. Can someone please explain. Could this just be email spam? I usually get weekly emails requesting a link exchange. And I must confess, I usually just delete them. Thanks, Gordon
Seems legit to me, and would benefit you a lot more than him. The reason he's contacting you is because you're a related site, and links from related sites do have their value.
You should continue to do so as well....... they aren't worth the time the take (and if you do participate in them you might want to setup a script to check periodically that the other person hasnt nofollowed the link). Easier to just delete the email. http://www.im-wizard.com/why-you-should-stop-looking-for-link-exchanges/
Looks legit to me and more reasonable because he's not after for your PR but for the website's relevancy! It's good to think about PR in exchanging links but it would be more better if you would focus more on the relevancy and not just because he has PR 3 or PR 5. Imagine you have a PR 5 link coming from a lingerie website and your link or website is all about baby wipes? lol.
How many link did you have in your site? If you have less sites. His site probably placed in first place. Its a good point to him.. Other than that your site is most related to him. There is no harm to him to link exchange with you. Dont avoid any link exchange request from webmasters. First of all research their site, if you find it is useful to you then exchange with them.
