5,000 people "like" my website. Now how do I post an update to all their news feeds?

Let's say for example 5,000 people go to my site and click "like".

Now, how do I post an update to all their news feeds? Please help.

U can't know their news feed just bcos they visited ur website bt u can get an idea of where dey came frm, using google analytic. If dey came frm d search engine, den dia is barely any thing you can do. but if they came from any of your social media network, then you can get to them through it. In d future, u may try 2 collect some contact info frm them like e-mail or inviting dem 2 join ur social network.

No. I'm not talking about facebook. I'm talking about a website. U can't post ur content 2 people whose news feed u don't know. How can u possibly do that? The best u can do is work with what u have (or can get). Notify ur network of ur content update, with link 2 it (i.e. If after ur research, u discover dat some of ur "like" voting visitors comes through ur network) nd they will come. It's not a facebook traffic phenomenum. It's a website traffic phenomenum.

You cannot post to anyones newsfeed that clicks a like button on your website.

When a Like button is clicked on a website it posts to the Facebook users wall that they Like "Name of web page and URL" That is all the Like button does in this scenario.

IF You had a link to your Facebook Fan Page for your website and people click the Like button then you can post to their news feeds. By posting anything on the Fan Page newsfeed it will appear to all 'fans'.

Perhaps you need to have a Like button graphic that when clicked directs to your fan page if you are interested in gathering fans to keep them updated.

Guys thank you for your responses, but it's not that simple.
According to the developers wiki it IS possible.

See, they say you can "...publish a stream update to all of the users who have liked your page".
This is a **Website** page they are talking about.

    Evidence: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph
and scroll down to "Programmatically administering your pages"

But you can only do this using stream.publish
I have no idea how to do this.

Check this links from Facebook ... It might help you developers.facebook.com /docs/reference/plugins/activity This is very similar to your requirements.

This won't work because the activity feed doesn't post to everyone's walls.

    Guys let me clarify:
    - They go to my website.
    - They click the "like" button.
    - Not like box.
    - Not fan box.
    - Just a like button only.

If you have set yourself as administrator of that page, then you can just go to the page that Facebook created on Facebook which when gone to via anything but administrator, redirects to your page, but for admin it wont. Then just type a message and it will show on your fans wall.

You can't do nothing. The Stream.publish method is requiring permissions from the user, and the publishing on his wall is making instantly through the Javascript SDK, if the user has accepted the required permissions.

The like button has no such an option, it is complete ( and closed ) widget with no other functionality.

I don't see it either with just a simple like button. The button would have had to have been integrated into the correct Facebook API, as in when people log into your site via Facebook...then you have some control.

If you don't have it set up that way, just a simple "like" is one sided...once they "like" it, it goes to their wall and that is all of the love that you are going to get unless their activity picks up some viral legs and their friends follow their lead

The button alone without any other integration offers you no option of posting to their news feeds because they have never signed into or joined your site...it's basically a drive by.

Actually, you CAN do this now. Facebook just launched the functionality that allows it last week.

First you need to get an authorization token for your website/application, and then use it to use the Graph API publish your feed to everyone who is a fan of it.
