Thesis is a nice product. All these products have limitations. I find the most annoying part of thesis is figuring out how to customize design with hooks. As far as ease of use with colors and column widths, widgets, etc. Thesis is great. Simple things like changing headers... is kind of annoying.

Let me give you an example... there is a Google Custom Search Theme in Thesis... but putting it anywhere but in a Widget Side bar takes some real customization. But the flip side is most themes don't even include it.

Ultimate Blogging theme is made by a kid (Literally)... and his team of kids. Not knocking it... per se... but if you want a theme designed by someone with real world experience and an excellent track record Chris's Theme is significantly better.

    For my money it's Thesis.

It's not about which one has more features,it's about which one has the features that you need or want.
I don't personally like either one enough.

Personally., I can't get with the license agreement on Thesis. I think it is absolutely ludicrous to ask $80 for a theme and expect me to still advertise it for you in MY footer. It's not that great that I would even consider accepting that on one of my sites. When they start kicking in for my hosting fees and other expenses that it takes to publish that site and host that link, then maybe, but I'm not paying to display their advertisement and give a free backlink.

That's just me so that is a real deal breaker for me, I don't care what the theme has, or what kind of framework it's built on.

I don't know anything about the other theme, so I can't comment. But I can't do business with a 16 year old kid and I wasn't too impressed with the presentation of the product. It comes off as "the answer to successful blogging" which really turns me off because it's targeting ignorance and desperate noobs.

Neither theme offers anything that I can't do myself with any other theme.

    @internetmarketingiq AND @hmansfieldhost

Uao guys, you both gave me very constructive and objective feedback, from different points of view. As I'm kinda new to IM you gave me valuable hints in order to understand more about my question. Obviously, as a newbie as I am, getting such feedbacks made me arise some more questions :)

    Talking about niche blogs:
    a. Ok UBT is build by a 16 years old 'kid', but that doesn't mean anything about its quality. From what I understand it works well, in terms of having a theme that allows you to quickly build an adsense site, am I wrong there ?

    b. About customization, of both themes, if you have some 100$ budjet per site and need to make some changes, you can also outsource the work, right?

And, what would you advice for a small niche site to promote a CB product based on Wordpress?

Thesis theme is good for web designers (who have HTML, PHP & CSS knowledge) but I believe it's not good for people who want a ready theme with least changes.

I don't mean to infer that there is anything wrong with the theme simply because the builder is isn't a legal adult yet. It's just a personal and business preference not to do business with minors. For all I know the kid is a genius. But I also was not very impressed with the presentation of the theme (on the website)...a lot of fluff and unnecessary showmanship, which always makes me leery. Like some kind of late night theme infomercial.

As far as "adsense ready" themes go. As a noob, I would rather see you understand the basics of certain implementations rather than get into the habit of relying on a theme to have every little function.

Sure, some themes make it easy to apply your adsense code because they have predesigned areas coded into them, but the basic principle is still the same...copy and paste your code.

Adsense is not that hard to implement, especially the most popular size, 300x250 which you can just paste into a text box in your side bar and position it where ever you want. And you can (if you need it) find tons of plug ins that will help you insert it into posts and pages. You don't need a specific theme to do these things

Don't get into the mind set that some themes are better for adsense than others. It is not true. There isn't a theme out there that is going to give you any more of an advantage with adsense than any other. Making money with adsense is going to be equally as hard no matter what theme you choose.
You can always outsource any custom work. Choose a Service provide carefully and ensure that you have a clear idea of what you want done. Most of my cost over runs come because the client isn't sure of what they want and I start a job with only half of a vision. Most Wordpress Sevice providers charge by the hour. If you are clear what you need, most basic changes can be done within that hour.

More difficult coding or function changes could take longer. If you are on a budget, investigate what you can do on your own, (like changing colors, fonts, etc) and call in a professional to do the stuff that you can't do, or to make code changes.,,of if you need it done quickly.

Wordpress is merely a CMS publishing software. It is not a business model. No matter what products you choose to promote you will have to learn the basic principles of SEO, and Web Marketing.
Wordpress offers you a few advantages and options that will make a lot of things easier as far as your set up goes, but actual promotion and traffic generation is hard for everyone...doesn't matter what platform you build your site on.

Thesis is better than Ultimate blogging theme in many ways ! there is no comparison !
Thesis is a framework that takes the functionality of WP to the next level altogether . UBT is just like a visual template . Thesis is worth every penny spent .

thesis is more good for me, i used it too and good for SEO. Just like techlunatic said, thesis is framework and you can pick/buy some thesis templates and make your thesis more unique.

I would go with Thesis. I tried several premium themes and Thesis gave me options I could not find in others. It is so customizable that I can not see myself changing it. Ever :)
Even though I didn't know all CSS I need and had no knowledge of PHP what so ever, I still managed to make it look really nice, especially with DIYThemes forum being full of helpful people :)

Try to use Flexx Themes, it's very customizable and comes on different designs and concept. It depends on the kind of your blog.
