Google's new trend of showing images. Will it help in image optimization?

I saw today new look of google showing images in its search results of images. I got one question in mind "Well, this new trend or look will help or push in image optimization?".

Not sure Alan, but it will help folks infringe on copyrights a little easier.

 

I think they have made changes in their design to show image results. But if they had made changes to their image search algorithm then it will surely do.

 

i heard they just bought some image optimization software which will make life easier for those working with images

 

The did have a project earlier this year to optimize images. They'd have random volunteers giving 1-word answers about what was in the images, and the goal was to have them agree on a word/term for the image. It only lasted a week or so, not sure if it was a trial or if it was all that they needed to get the job done.
