I never go gambling, however I went yesterday by myself to the local casino, where hundreds of people play 24/7 all age groups. I thought I'd play a few games, I started of with $10 Australian dollars, and walked out of there with $700 dollars. I was quite impressed, however I see other people pouring heaps and HEAPS of money in to the machines and not winning a cent, I really feel sorry for them because even if they have won imaginge how much money they have spent over the years? Although, I did have a great time and I will definitely be going back soon to try my luck again. Have you ever won much from gambling on slot machines?
You are fighting a losing battle with the slot machines. My dad was a poker machine technician and he would tell me about how the machines are programmed to pay a certain percentage. Pubs do well because of all the money the pokies are making them. It's a bad habit to get you should quit while you are ahead. If you are going to gamble, play a game like poker where you play your opponents and not the casino/machine which is designed to take your money.
I've played a single round on a slot machine and I've lost and that was it. I won't be playing it ever again.
@dcristo It's really a game of chance. People will still play it because of the entertainment and excitement it brings to them. The real problem is not knowing when to stop.
The more you win, the more you play. You will remember the number of times your won, but not the number of times you lost.
The real problem is playing a game you can NOT beat. There is an element of luck in poker as well, your pocket aces will get cracked sometimes, but it doesn't mean you can't beat your opponents in the long term.
@looking4vps dead end of the road @dcristo your very correct, life is like a wheel, sometimes your up,sometimes your down
But it's all downhill with pokies. Do you know any professional poker machine players that make a living from it? You say it's a form of entertainment. Well you can play cards for some fun and not give up a significant edge if you know how to play.
Gambling is a bad idea. You may get lucky and win a few times but the longer you play the more you lose. Just remember all the nice casinos and resorts in Vegas was built from the money that people lost gambling.
@Scottypops wow, there's a lot of people who wants to throw away money. Some of them went there just to experience the "Las Vegas" atmosphere. Now,every country wants to have their own "Las Vegas" in their city.
life is really a gamble. Every choice you make in life is a gamble. Gambling is risky. Business is also risky. But as Mr. R. Kiyosaki once said, It's not the business which is risky, it's the person who is not informed who is risky
