Is there any way to get direct visitors to your site other than SEO. I think SEO, day by day, is getting much complicated so I am looking for other ways. What about Forum Posting and Comment Posting. Do you get traffic from forum posting, if "YES" then how you get, I mean what type of post you made in forum and what extant of quality writing it requires?
The traffic that you receive directly will likely be the most targeted traffic that you can get. People are coming to your blog because they want to find something specific or see what new posts have been published. In most cases they’re already familiar with your blog and they are choosing to come back.
Posting on social media is a good way to get traffic, also if you want to spend money, you can try ppc campaigns such as Adwords.
Comment posting and signature posting can drive a lot of traffic to your site if the writing is good and relevant. Nobody will follow a link when the comment says "nice post" or "subscribed", however well-written and relevant comments will definitely drive traffic. Try out your luck by setting a goal, perhaps to write 3 GREAT comments per day, then use your analytics to see the results.
Yes, most of my traffic come from forum posting and blog posting. You have to be careful about forum posting - many forums have zero tolerant towards link promotion. However, I found many of the asian forums are willing to tolerate website promotion - just post your link at the forum and the traffic will come. For forums in the Western world, register as a normal user without link signature, from time to time suggest some links as resources, with your website url included as part of the link. For blog comment, search for any blog with product mentioned in your article posting - put a comment that you actually recommended the product in your article and provide the url to your article - you will get one or two hits.
Most of my traffic DOES come from the search engines... BUT I also do well with Twitter (using Tweetdeck), FaceBook, even TRAFFIC EXCHANGES! The key is to be consistent.
I think in the long term SEO is still the best option but while your waiting for your rankings to improve using forum posting and blog commenting can drive alot of traffic to your blog or website
Just to make it clear, SEO includes both onpage and offpage SEO. Forum, blog or any web 2.0 for that matter, is included in offpage SEO. You can find more references in SEO Fast Start, in my opinion, the best resource for starting SEO specialists and IMers.
Hello alex06291, Like Dean_Saliba said, leaving comments on popular blogs in your niche is a great way to get traffic. I'll guide you through how I do it for a blog I visit daily called Abduzeedo. Abduzeedo has posts daily called "Daily Inspiration", which contain artwork from anyone willing to submit it. Being in the graphic design niche, I always try to submit at least one piece a day, and I find that I get a lot of traffic from them. My artwork is shown with a ton of other artwork, and if someone is interested in it, they can click it and get linked to the portfolio page of my website. So I already get traffic from submitting the image, but then even more with the comments I leave. I'm subscribed to the RSS feeds of all the blogs I regularly comment on so that I know immediately when a new post comes out. If you're the first to comment, and leave a link to your site, you'll be noticed a lot more than someone who is the 30th person to comment. Anyway, I always leave a comment thanking them for including me in the post and complimenting some of the other artwork I like, and I make sure it's always well worded. I would never post anything like "The third piece is really cool". That doesn't mean anything. I go into detail about what drew my attention to it and what I admired about it. The same rule applies for any kind of comments you leave on any blog. You want to make them a sentence or two and well written, as opposed to just sentence fragments that have no meaning. At the end of my comment I will leave a little signature (different from having a forum signature), that says... -Benjamin M. Jacques My Graphic Design Portfolio (this will be linked to the portfolio page of my website) I used to leave comments that were well written but leave a signature like this... My Latest Blog Post Blog Post Title (linked to blog post) I find this doesn't work as well because I blog about monetizing websites as well as designing and it might look a bit spammy to have a signature that says something like "My Latest Blog Post: How I Made $500 In Half An Hour" even if that links to a professional guide telling you how to do just that. I find it's better to be very broad when it comes to signatures as opposed to narrow and specific. Abduzeedo is a graphic design blog, so they don't mind if I link to my graphic design portfolio. I am contributing content to their site after all. The same can be applied in all situations though. Leave a well written comment, then at the end leave a signature that is relevant to the site you're on, linking to your site. It's a pretty simple process. I hope that helped. -Benjamin M.
