Guys I am warning you ahead of time, I noticed 3 times I used a free word press theme or plug in that my adsense clicks drastically dropped.

The first time I did this I used some adsense integrator plug in and the guy was putting his ads on my site after he saw I turned off the donate button and my traffic went up to 20 thousand a day for 1 week.

I saw that I was getting 300-600 clicks a day and then all of a sudden my clicks dropped drastically and I was getting 10 to 20 clicks for 20,000 visitors all search traffic.

I checked closeless and saw he was putting his adsense on my site.

So I had to remove everything and reboot froma save, and delete his theme.

I bought a theme and put the adsense codes in myself and my adsense clicks went back to normal I was getting 5 to 10 thousand visits a day and 100-400 clicks which is average.

now just 4 days ago I thought I would try out an blog link widget plugin and I added it and for the past 4 days my clicks dropped drastically again. I had 4 thousand visits and only 5 clicks today and yesterday I had 7 thousand clicks and only 12 clicks.

this time I tried to see if anyone else was having a problem then I read somewhere they hack your theme and this time if your looking from the host ip they dont add their google code so you cant see it very sneaky.

This is why more people are using drupal instead of Wordpress because of these people who make free themes and plug ins but put a DONATE code or add theire google ad code to the theme and plugin.

I don't think that the plugin developer can add his own adsense code to your pages, maybe something wrong with the plugin itself.

Wrong, folks release free templates with adsense blocks already populated with their codes because folks are too thick to replace it with their own ;)

Its frankly not a bad idea and not exactly shady either. They add their code so when you install it you can see the template in action as advertised. No one can inject adsense code into your site. Well, I suppose it is possible but that is not what we are discussing here.

Actually if the developer do this he also take a lot of risk in getting his adsense account banned, for he has no control of the people who are going to use his free theme. For example if someone use his Free Theme on Warez site or a Porn site. :p

Anyway there is always a down side on FREEbies, and on this case probably the adsense thing :D

Thanks for the heads up bro...

Guys it's not just the Free themes with the already placed codes of the maker, but those plug ins and themes that say DONATE because some of them will say we only take 3 percent of your adsense if you click yes so basically they can hack into your site and place their code because they know how to since you are using their template.

they call it ad sharing. Now my site is messed up I think they can also redirect traffic thats going to your site and make it go to their site.

Be careful because I clicked the donate button off and a few days later when I went to check the donate button was checked.

The only reason I use Wordpress is cause its the easiest to use, but so many shady people on there, mainly from overseas.

Or maybe someone hacked into your WP-Admin and put their adsense code into it. I doubt the developer has anything to do with it.

Better put your code directly on your template files, rather than using those plugins.

its normal to put their own adsense code in the templates. when we install theme its our task to change the pub-id ;)

That's why you're always adviced to put in your AdSense code yourself... manually. Never rely on a wordpress plugin to put AdSense ads into your site or else there is the possibility that you might be letting some scrupulous hack siphon your AdSense earnings.

I don't want to sound harsh, but you're getting quite a lot of clicks ... and so it's time you paid for themes. Free themes are good, but once your site's getting significant traffic it's definitely time to break out the cheque book and start buying them. My philosophy is: once I'm making money, I'll make sure others are... it's just a shame I'm not making more than hosting fees on my Wordpress sites yet....

But I am already checking out theme makers, so I can make my own themes when I have enough to pay for them. e.g. DIY Theme, Thesis and similar, where you buy a programme that enables you to make your own themes.

Also, there's Template Monster where you can buy some affordable ones.
