I wonder how happy you'd be if you found a dime of the floor. You'd probably die of a heart attack.

But such is life! An assemblage of tiny little joys, strung together on the necklace of time.

Traffic? Since when does a DMOZ link give any traffic, except from the occasional wandering editor?

I think he meant, traffic from the search engines as a result of being listed in DMOZ.

A DMOZ listing is simply one more backlink, nothing more, as is shown from numerous listed sites that have no PR whatsoever. It will have as much impact on search engine positions as any other link might have. It is probably not a reason for a public announcement or to hold a party! ;)

But if it is only (or one few) backlink you have it will have huge impact but then in that case any backlink will have same effect. ;)

And getting any other backlink would take a fraction of the time and angst. ;)

I am the opinion that the longer you're listing is in the directory the more weight certain search engines give it. No real facts to back that up, just an observation.

How long did you get it indexed? I submitted my website 2 month ago, and still can't find it now. I have no choice, so submitted ago last week.

Any tips on how to get indexed by DMOZ? Inform us the boost of traffic caused by DMOZ later.

    You are lucky man.

Good news hhheng, you do have a choices.

First, choose not to keep submitting. Once or twice won't hurt but if you do it excessively it could be seen as spamming. It will never speed up a review of your site but it will almost always slow the process down. The only way you can possibly reduce the amount of time it takes is to read the guidelines and then make your submission to the most appropriate category, with a good guideline compliant title and description.

Also, go easy on the keywords, and don't make submissions to multiple categories. ;)

Another choice you have is to work on getting backlinks from sources other than DMOZ in the meantime. With a little patience and some good content on your site it should all fall together. :)

If nothing else, being listed in DMOZ makes your site worth more if you decide to sell it.

This might correlate more with the fact that the site is old, rather than listed in DMOZ. Most DMOZ listings are of old sites. It's a circular argument, not a proof.

Or less if you try and bribe an editor who chooses to post your attempt complete with URL, thus getting the site banned, and then try and sell it on the same forum where someone might just post a link to the thread where you got your site banned. Or something like that.

For some business, ODP is also good because they recieve quality traffic from there, not like PR directories that only give you pr and backlinks.
