Hi guys, I have recently launched my new website http://mostliked.net and I am having some difficulty trying to tell a lot of people. I have told all of my Facebook friends, and I have submitted the site to many social bookmarks, but really it is not enough. For a site like mine to work it needs tons of visitors, so I really need to let lots of people now. Here are the things I have done so far to market the site: Told 300+ Facebook friends Submitted site to 5+ Social Bookmarks Released a press release Told local news agencies If you have any tips or suggestions of what I should do, please do tell me! Thanks, Zach
Hey there Zach, its funny you should ask because Ived worked with a few sites like LikeThisList and LikingSpree and they make a fairly decent income from the traffic they receive. Since your site is a Facebook liking site, for the most part is just create more likes. -The more likes you create the more popularity your site will gain on Facebook. -Once you gain a relationship with your viewers, you can use full page ads and increase your earnings exponentially -Spend money on advertising using Adwords or Adbrite. I dont normally suggest doing this though. You should also have a Twitter so that way your site can have a home aside from home base. Hope that assists your suggestion! Dwayne
Thanks for the quick reply Dwayne! So are you suggesting I add peoples names to the site and then link it back to their Facebook profile? Also with the Adwords I am not sure what keywords I should target? Also I'm setting up a Twitter right now! Thanks, Zach
Exactly! What you should do is actually have their names on Facebook and have the likes link back to your site. Heres an example: lets say on Facebook theres a like that says " Butters from Southpark" then after that it would say "on MostLiked". When a user clicks on MostLiked it will automatically direct them to your site thus giving your more traffic, which will then in turn mean more revenue!
I'm one step ahead of you, it already does that, if you have a Facebook try liking someone on the site, it automatically links it to your wall. What I meant was should I put in other peoples names, and then copy the url of that person mostliked.net profile, and link it to their real Facebook page to generate traffic, or would that just be creepy? Thanks, Zach
Ooh okay. And yeah that would be kind of creepy and probably an infringement of privacy lol. If anything just link it to a page that youve created on Facebook dedicated to your site where people can have discussions about others, so you'll have all around full circle networking.
No problem! Well you said you already have the links from Facebook that go directly to your site. So, after you have a link that on your site, you'd want to use the names on your site and link it back to a Facebook page thats dedicated to the concept of your site(which is liking). When you do this, people will become more familiar to your site and will be involved in discussions on your sites Facebook page and whatnot, in turn, gaining popularity for your site. But I'd say, the simplest thing you could do is just keep on updating your site so you can get the name out there more.
Well thanks a bunch man, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing then! Any other suggestions? Thanks, Zach
Have you tried to contact websites which are related to the same subject of your website. Send them an email and try to do some Joint Venture to them . Joint Venture is one of the best way to let people to know about your webiste. I hope it helps and all the success online
Well my site is the only one right now, but there are larger sites with similar concepts, but wouldn't going into a joint venture give me more visitors but less money? Please give me some more tips on how to propose a joint venture, and some benefits of them Thanks, Zach
You can promote your website in advertising forums and agencies, although you should not expect many visitors from one advertisement. There are many cheap paid-to-click sites, where advertising starts from one dollar. In some sites, you can earn advertising for your website by clicking and visiting other websites. There are many traffic exchanges that offer a thousand or more free credits to their new members, so you will get lots of website visitors immediately. Then you visit the websites of the other webmasters and they visit your website in exchange. A traffic exchange is a way to get hundreds or thousands of visitors to your website. You can also get paid-per-click traffic from small search engines.
Traffic exchanges are really nice yes, but be aware that you have adsense on your page so you can't do any direct traffic exchange.
I took a look at your site and frankly... I see no point visiting to that site. You ask "Wouldn't it be cool to see how many people like you?" - but's that already done. You can have a script that shows how many people like certain page. Also, "most liked" idea is ok... but nobody shouldn't need to do anything to see the most liked pages. Think of it bit like alexa ranke, or pagerank or compete rank - you can track most liked pages, their history etc. Since your page has like 54 people, then seeing my rank among these unknown people means zero to me. Right now I can go to your site... but it has no use to me. For this reason, I believe there's no point trying to promote your site just yet. It needs something else to become useful for somebody. /didn't mean to be harsh, just trying to give another perspective P.S. check my signature link for some traffic tips.
Article writing is very effective. Also take advantage of social media network and bookmarking sites.
Thank you for your response, but the thing is the site needs to go viral so that people will want to participate on it. That is why I was asking you guys here at DP for some tips. At this point in time you and I both realize the site has no real appeal to anyone, but I was asking you guys to help me get this to go big, not to get told what I already know. Also, I'll check out your link in your signature, I think I've actually read that before . Thanks, Zach
Actually, when re-reading your post I had an idea, do you think you would be more inclined to join the site if there were "regions" as apposed to just everyone. So say you live in Finland, ten you could create a new region for whatever city you live in or something like that, so that you compete against your friends? Thanks, Zach
make sure you install sharethis or bookmark button on your site.. it helps others share your website with friends.. see my sig
