I have not read any where that short URL give better result and search engine detect 60 word url. I've seen many web site ranking top with log url some blog site, article sites etc. Short url beneficial for easy to read and remember to users.
Ezine is a great standard for this. They simply take the title and use hyphens as spaces for the url. Chances are it should be under 100 chars if it's a relevant, descriptive title, which will become the url.
for the result in one site, shorter URL, more rooter URL has a better rank for example, for the same site, same back links, similar content: http://sample.com/url.html ranks better than http://sample.com/urls.html http://sample.com/url.html ranks better than http://sample.com/url/
From my personal point of view, i strongly recommend mydomain.com/something-mykeyword.html or mydomain.com/mykeyword-something.html You can create a custom URL structure for your permalinks. Please kindly bear in mind that 1. If the keyword isn’t on the page, it isn’t going to rank well for that keyword 2. If the keyword isn’t in the title of the page, it is going to be tougher to rank for that keyword 3. If the keyword isn’t in the url, the task becomes more difficult.
Could you give us a practical example on what you mean? I don't think they cut it off, but if your url is longer the ration keyword to other text becomes worse.
Length doesn't have to do with it. You need to have a search engine friendly url to accomplish the best results.
It is advisable to shorten your URL as much as possible. But for search engines, long URL and short URL just have the same weight.
Why..? Consider that a longer url means more content to consider. A shorter url would give the remaining keywords more power.
personal experience shorter url don't make a difference. What makes a difference is if your url has your keyword in it.
Long URLS are definitely best. I dont know where you get the 60 characters theory but for SEO you need to have as much in the url as possible.
That would depend on what you are optimizing for. If that's a certain phrase that is long, then by all means try to fit the phrase into that url.
