I have few coupon site such as couponus.com and dearcoupon.com. They are all depromoted by google. For example, for keyword "smooth fitness promo code", dearcoupon.com used to be #6 but now, it ranked at the last page. Couponus.com disappeared since it online 1 year ago. Someone say both of these two sites have a duplicated content issue. So I built a new site yepv.com and rewrite all the content. It ranked well at the beginning but it is gone again. I am now totally lost. Do you guys have any clue?
Hi, In my own experiences, duplicated contents might not be a big issue. It would usually hard to rank for keywords on coupon niche since it might be no dedicated theme for such sites. all the best,
My site dearcoupon.com and yepv.com ranked very well at beginning but disappeared after few weeks. Is should be a punishment but why? being a coupon site?
regardless of what site you may have, Google doesn't look specifically at the niches nor they hate a particular niche. It all comes down to what you have done with your website, technically and SEO side. Even if you make a website that teaches people how to smoke cannabis can still rank.
I just did a research on penalty again. The most possible penalty for my site should be the over optimization I think. I have done every SEO thing I can for my site including insert keywords to title, meta, Header tags and backlinks. Every page seems to be perfect for a certain keyword and did ranked very good at the beginning(all on first page after them were indexed). Do you guys believe that Google will punish a site that SEOed too well? (I did not spam. Just built very few links and the keyword density is ok as well)
Too much posts, too much e-mails, too much SEO are all forms of SPAM. I really think that only 30% out of all SEO that you've done with your websites are the just the only SEO that you really need. Don't overdo it.
It is so hard to get rid of the rest 70% out of my mind when I design and coding the page. lol However, I will try to edit a site to a amateur level to test it. thanks
just read this post and think this should be the reason http://www.john-shehata.com/seo-over-optimization/
Well it not might be just coding or design related factors that may have affected your rankings. How about links? have you built so many links in a short period of time? Excessive placement of keywords and keyword stuffing tendency? etc... There are a lot of aspects that you should also consider mainly on the SEO side.
I don't think Google honestly cares about the niche of the site. As long as it's relevant to the results they return...after all they are an aggregator (they return crazy results such as p*rn), etc. Just be sure to have proper onpage seo, and then it becomes a fight for back links and social media.
