I have had a website that has been up for 2 and a half years. I have been building backlinks for my website and I managed to get it on page 4 with competition of a keyword with 227,000,000 results but recently my page has just moved to page 8 and now page 10. Does anyone know why it would move so far down the rankings? Thanks Sam
Well it happens today morning my site which stand #08 on First page for a famous keyword went off too 5th page . Happens cant help it. Just keep writing and don't spam links . Build quality links .
It depends on many factors like, the cookies are saved on your computer or as google is having an update since 1st of July, the ranks can be shuffling. Just wait for a week or so and then compare the ranks again.
Could it be that you have a competitor who's actively pushing their site up in the rankings while at the same time trying to make sure that yours stays lower than theirs? Not sure what your situation is since I haven't see your site but from experience, I know that this is possible and it's how competition works in this particular industry. Certain competitors even go to the extent of making a deal with Google or other search engines to make sure that their site stays at the top or at a certain position in the rankings. It costs a lot but it does give them results. Maybe that's something you'd like to check out... Also, have you done any SEO work on your site lately other than creating backlinks? If not, you might want to consider learning some basic SEO techniques or hire a pro to do it for you (if rankings matter that much to your business/personal activities).
I guess travelguides is right, your competitors might be trying to pull you down while trying to move to page 1. But my suggest is that you do not have relent, keep updating your contents and get more quality backlinks and with this way, you will bounce back.
if your content is being copied, Google may be recognizing it as duplicate content? if you are not changing your content, its considered old news and moves down. other sites started optimizing for the keyword? could just be temporary. without knowing the site name to check its really hard to tell.
there is over 200 ranking factors that google uses and we dont know nearly all of them so the best thing to do is just experiment and see what works best. it could be a combination of more competition and your back links losing value or something. i say just keep experimenting. good luck!
Hi, wombleboy05 In my own experiences, you need to keep the balance between fresh contents and those already existed contents on your sites. Also, you need to only use 1 or 2 main keywords in building your back links. all the best,
There's two essential possibilities. One, Google has taken a closer look at your content and determined it is not as relevant as it once was. I'd look at injecting it with some new, high quality keyword rich articles. Make sure they are top notch. They don't have to be long though as long as they are good. Two, your site is as good as ever but your competition is getting better. Take a look at the sites that have stolen the top billing and figure out why. A great way to do this is via the stats you can get at Alexa. You'll need to have the toolbar installed to get the really good info, but you can install it on Firefox then just hide it. Alexa will show you what the sites are ranking for and also keyphrases they could better capitalize on. It will also show you where the sites are getting their backlinks and their clickthrough traffic. So make your own site fresh with some quality content, find out how competitors are beating you then fight fire with fire.
Well bro thats normal happens all the times to me also . Its just that other site gets new content and hence our site goes down then it will come up again in some days . Weird thing
To get ranking on Google Search Engine, you must do link building with relevant web sites with targeted keywords.
