I think you more likely to hit a million with your Adsense and not your painting.

Didn't scientists already know that there was nothing extraordinary in the rock and soil samples Neil Armstrong brought? Didn't they know testing the samples elaborately was going to be nothing more than a ritual after having brought it down from moon? Didn't they know that they only had wild dreams and hopes on their side to justify that astronomical experiment which wasn't going to succeed anytime before either the samples degenerated or they themselves died?

This man belongs to the tribe that wants to give it a go. What if he fails? Nothing; probably, he may just decide to keep the
last bid amount and move on. Is that a failure... well, I don't think it is, even if he reaches half way or even half of it. After all, it's business and there is no reason for anyone to be shy because he or she declared too big a goal.

I am a trained, certified artist. I am a painter and a casual singer but this may surprise you that I know nothing about marketing art. On the other hand, you don't need to be a marketer to be an artist or a critic. Come on dlm, I feel you must encourage the guy, he is going through the inevitable rigmarole of first creating the market and then some demand to begin with and then trying to sell it and then...

... when something becomes controversial the whole world wants to have a piece of it...
Sure this painting can become controversial in one year if the owner floods the internet showing it... keep at it my friend...

...and dlm you need to start seeing the bright side of life my friend... cheer up!

Why would you think I'm not happy.

Making fun of clowns on this forum is an enjoyable way to spend some free time.

Personally I think it's great. The idea of novelty has always been sound. I hope you get your million.

Take Frank Kern for instance,or Michael Cheney.Michael Cheney brought in so much on his Delta Squadron launch that the merchant he used could not process the orders fast enough and started giving people refunds. One million is nothing to IM gurus, that make well over that the first day of launch

Picasso, and Davinci didn't make one painting and say hmmmmmm thats worth a million dollars,You the artist can't set the worth of the art you create, only other people can.Something and i mean anything is only worth what someone else will pay for it.

Not what you think its worth in your mind.I have written a hit song, but until someone hears it and also agrees with me,it won't be making any money

One thing I learnt from life is you get what you ask for. If I asked for $100K for this painting I bet you nobody would offer me $1 Million.

A painting made by a famous painter can fetch 1 million. But usually if nobody knows the painter's name, then I think 1 million for it is highly unlikely. But it never hurts to try.

I bet nobody would offer you $100,000 in that case anyway...and I can guarantee you nobody will offer you $1 million just because "you asked for it"

Excellent. If you don't hear from them in a reasonable period (say, a month), you might try non-electronic means (a letter or perhaps a phone call).

Summary of my $1 million in one year experiment

I’ve been running this experiment since May 2010. The highest bid so far is $350.00. I am getting 2 – 40 unique visitors per day. I am following most of the steps discussed in DP forum on SEO optimization, link building, social networking utilization, etc. Quite frankly I am not getting the results I need so I am moving to the second phase of this project. I am going to contact media outlets directly and see what happens. I’ll keep you posted.
