All companies that were great ones have been overtaken by newcomers. They haven't collapsed but their importance have diminished. IBM was overtaken by Microsoft. Now Google seems to rule. Do you know of any startups that can beat the mighty google?
I can't think of any right now, although I have noticed that my niece doesn't really use Google. She gets everything from either Facebook or Youtube. She doesn't search Google to find out if a company has a website - she finds the website via the company's Facebook fan page, for example. If she has a homework question, she goes straight to Wikipedia to find the answer (naughty, I know). So maybe Google won't be overtaken - maybe people will just find other ways to use the web and searching as we think of it will be less important. Unlikely, but something to think about.
Can't think of anything else for now. I thought it was Bing, but that changed my mind. Google still provides the best results and navigation.
Google seem to be the most easy to use with best features.... i find Yahoo is now cluttered and confusing now
don't Think so any other search engine take over .Every one is trying .For eg bing introduce new search engine .In back ground they show some beautiful wallpapers.Google start showing in chrome aswell .So They Well based No one can over take overtake .
It's not possible...No one can overtake google because of google is the best search engine as compare to other, It can provide lot of services..
Start ups to overtake google? Not in my imaginable. But if you are asking for a good contender however a bit off the niche, that would be facebook. I was thinking then what would actually happen if facebook engaged itself in search engine war. Hmmmm...
Well there are different aspects when you're talking about taking over Google. Gmail is undeniably the best among the major 3 (hotmail, yahoomail and Gmail). For search engine, well, definitely Google ATM and there's really none that I can think of right now. For OS, Google has tried releasing their own OS called Android but quickly died because Microsoft is still owning the OS market (especially Windows 7 and I'm bloody loving it!). For browsers, Google Chrome has now shown that they are indeed a sleeping dragon. For the past years, Google Chrome quickly picked up the pace and has now reached almost the same share IE7 had before. For Social Networking, well, Orkut and Google Buzz flunked bad. Facebook and Twitter are the clear winners in this field. As for the rest, Adsense, Maps, Earth, etc. Google will definitely be a tough nut to crack.
Google is becoming "narrower", they are targeting the searches to a very specific area, "their area". Sooner or later people will notice that and nooooobody likes to be told what to do Cheers!
Facebook is a social networking site and Google is a search engine. I do not think so there is no connection between them. If you take that hit, it can be. But I am not sure.
It seems like Google got the best and brightest mind of IM people working for them so I don't think it will be easy for new comer to take on something this great. Like do you know how many tools Google offer to people? You'd be amaze. It'd be interesting to see some changes though..
Just like its own product: caffein. The king will not always there. Tyson beat Frank Bruno, Evander Holyfield beat Tyson and so on.
everything which starts has to end so Google will also end some day with some one from the backyard coming with a more brilliant upto date search engine.
Google is the giant in the search industry. It follows the latest unique technology and user friendly one to use. It helps a lot of tools for Webmaster to track exactly.
I think it would be more safe if we're open to anything. That was the same case with Yahoo! before and not UNTIL Google came along and took the throne from them. Myspace was also another EX-king NOT until Facebook suddenly soared sky high!
It may be a few years away, but once Baidu breaks out of china, they may be able to give google a real run for their money.
same question, same answer... how do you expect someone to overtake Google? They have a huge market share.
