eBay auctions aren't always about the product...If you play your cards right you can get a lot of attention as a bidder and actually get more then your moneys worth. Golden Casino made their name with this kind of stupid stuff
but it's for good cause on 2 accounts so I take it you've never seen some of the historically insane auctions. one that comes to mind recently is a piece of toast that had the face of someone(in the news) carved into it. I'm so darn specific right? edit: here's one...Virgin Mary stuff is always hot and another: toast is huge
Shaving Bag eBay Auction just passed 20,000 views and appears to be climbing fast. Is there any ways to find out who is linking to it?
Wow, 38,000 views! But not on the main pulse page yet. Another item on the main page had only just over 5,000 views. There is definitely some trickery going on. Post your Pulse tips people!
I looked at the entries on the main page of the Pulse and almost all of 'em have an "enticing picture" or something that basically says "click here for more" which actually goes to the auto-add-to-their-watch-list URL. So I guess that must be the "trick" to getting on the front page of the Pulse! Per the comments, looks like it hit the front page of ebaumsworld (it's there now) which I've heard is a huge site ... plus who knows what else. I'm assuming there is no way to find out the referrer's to the eBay auction (?)
Less than an hour to go - new top bidder - SamTheFunkMonkey jumps in at $1,050 with over 90,000 views!
Wowee! Over 90,000 views, 683 watchers, $1,050 bid and less than an hour to go, and still not on page one of the pulse. How many watchers does it take I wonder?
no doubt, you'd think views alone would be enough. I wonder how they determine what's hot enough for the pulse treatment
Who would have thought - 91,683 views!!!! Winning bid: US $1,050.00 Ended: Sep-23-06 19:16:49 PDT History: 64 bids Winning bidder: samthefunkmonkey( 12)
My brother says no response so far to several inquries to the person who outbid MajorGeeks at the last minute per the updated image (see below) on the eBay auction page. Would be lame if the person didn't make a real bid, especially because it was for charity.
I LOVE that contract - it's the wording; "your stupid Seattle Supersonic bag" It would be a real pig if the buyer turned out to be a scumbag.
This just goes to show that nothing is too stupid to auction off on Ebay, so long as it's for a good cause. If anything, this auction wasn't stupid enough. Maybe if it were for someone's used hanky, or a fried AOL CD, then it would have got even more attention and cash?
