Hi everyone. I've got an idea how to make money online. It's nothing new in general, but still. I've got $5k which i wanna spend on my online business. What is to make a web-site which has very helpful interactive information for dummies how to fix a computer problems, such as backup, reinstalling windows, restore formated hard drive, ect. But make it very very easy to learn. And make some separated videos, which shows even more clearly how to do this or that and sell those videos fore couple dollars. I'm just thinking, how many people would pay couple bucks for video and try just follow a simple steps on the screen instead pay $100-200 to get their computer fixed. I'm not talking about old people and who does not know anything about computers. So if a person know just a little bit how to use his comp., than he can handle to fix computer himself. I've researched INTERNET, and there is not many sites at all who has detailed helpful videos. So I think, if spend $5k for good website, SEO i would have some profit. And also I could put google ad's to! So what do you think? I would appreciate any clear answer. Thanks!
I voted "Yes, but not too much! First, you need to create a really helpful website in order to have visitors, get backlinks and other stuff. Then, you need SEO and marketing to improve website's visibility. Also, do you have money for future investments? It is about computers and computers change often. After a year or two, that will be an old website. You need to have something to keep visitors comming. I would suggest to make some kind of interaction with visitors. You can make it that users can submit their own videos, tips and other stuff. You will get fresh content and popularity and they will get popularity, links, clients or something else. $5k is a great sum of money but for a real online project may be not enough.
Um youtube is littered with these sorts of videos. And most people have a warranty where they call and someone talks them through the process. Sorry not a new idea at all
perfectly right... so, you will create something special or you will do nothing... and if youtube and warranty fails, large number of people will call a friend, computer guy and similar...
- to freeseoguide. I would be abe to invest about $1k/month if needed. - to HighRollerT. Yes, I agree, youtube - is a great source of information, BUT if you do some research, and try to find, for example, key-phrase "reinstall windows" you will not find, simple for dummies, video solution which will explain step-by-step how to do that. So I'm talking about to create a perfect videos which will shows different variations of installation. - I'm working as a computer Geek on site now and about 70% of a customers had computers which is not under warranty anymore. And they are ready to pay $100/hour for me to get it fixed. And I've made a Poll among a customers, about 50% would do it them self if they know how.
I don't know... But many of that dummies will not be sure if that video will give them an answer and a solution. So, I think it's not an easy project to create and be successful. If you are paid $100 per hour, why not invest that in some kind of online marketing, SEO, website for your services to try to find customers that way? Honestly, I am in SEO and watched many project fails, because people try to make profitable business online and it is rarelly successful. If you just want to try that I suggest you to find someone who knows internet very good to help you and lead that project, by advices.
wow! I would def not personally spend it that way! I would buy about 200 exact match domain names for the halloween season, build google sniper sites, buy a subscription to linkjuicer and go to work. You could expect a return of %5,000 to $20,000 per year every year from now on.
if you are so sure about that linkjuicer and other stuff, why not to borrow some money and do that ? I like to read "Make money online fast" posts, pages and also... And all of them just want to help other people to make that also! Make $500 per day, Make money while you sleep!... It is sad that there are just too many people that have no money for living and look carefully at every foolish chance to earn money fast
Old people who don't know anything about computers? Which generation do you think invented computers, and have been using and building websites for the last 20 years? this is why your idea will fail - you've been on the net for 5 minutes and know nothing. As joshvelco said, nobody will pay you for what they can get for free from YouTube.
It all depends on how you market your idea. I'd go with a sincere approach that gives is shown by a great front end web design. This is one way you can help the community out. Aside from that, it might be a bad idea since you won't get many return customers from your products as your product videos are buy and forget in nature.
I dont really wanna do what I'm doing right now. I wanna just switch to straight on-line business, that's why I collected some money for it. I've just thought to turn my off-line experience to helpful online tips and make money of it. So, as I see, that my project will fail at most. Maybe I should invest my money to make a lot of google adsence micro-niche sites or something like that?
I had to vote no as I do not think many people really have much of an interest in repairing their own computer. The only ones who might are, in my opinion, the "old people" as you called them. Still, I need to qualify my answer a bit. This might actually be a good idea for a site, but don't dump 5K into it, its not worth that much.
Too much competition, it would take a long time to see a ROI , you need to think a bit more 'out of the box' there is so much more you could do with $5k example: (off the top of my head) 1. think of some software you wish you had but nobody has yet made 2. go to odesk and post the job for some programers ($1k) 3. set up a website and get some marketing done ($1k) 4. put your products on some affiliate networks ($0) 5. go on holiday and have a good time ($3k) while the affiliates bring the sales in. When investing BEFORE you think about how much you will be making, you should be thinking "how can I automate it" then you'll be living the dream.
If you just want to create a guide of sorts, then why not just create an e-book or e-books related to the products. If you create a good enough book, get it marketed properly, it has the potential to sell. Give the book(s) away to like 3-5 highly active members of big webmaster forums in return for their review, and its a good way for people to actually begin to market your product(s) for you, provided the reviews are good.
If you would invest that 5.000 dollar in what timeline do you expect to return that invest? Profits need to be high to return your time into money and make profit over your invest! At least if you want your invested money back in a acceptable time. In my opinion you can earn some cash with this idea but returning your invest will take a hell of a time! I agree with StevieP, think out the box and invest less money. Beside that I think you should spend with the given audience the most time (money?) on marketing/promotion. I mean we talk about dummies here, how are they supposed to find you with their problem!
I would personally, buy a site or blog that is relevant to my niche that earns 10-20% of my investment monthly from http://flippa.com/ Not only, you will make the money back in 5-10 months, after that you will continuously earn money (mostly automated) from these sites.
