Suggestion Idiots posting "I am interested, contact me or PM me" in for sale threads.

The people who post that they want me to contact them in my for sale threads make me a weee bit angry. I see it all over this site.

I find it to be dumb on their part. When you sale something in the paper you list it and then people contact you. They have to....but on here they don't.

Is there a way to make a for sale thread "locked" so that no posts or questions can be made other than by the seller? That may be something good to add to the site. Unless I missed it.

It is against the forum rules to make such posts. Report the posts and they will get an infraction.

Ignore them or report them (use the exclamation mark button under the post) to get their post deleted.

Yes, I know but I wish we could just close our for sale posts so they would be FORCED to contact us. There is no need for questions in some for sale threads so why have the ability to post?

Well why have the ability to just post "Im selling a site with alexa 49k, PM me for info" that's not really a sale thread is it? If people ask your for more details then you obviously haven't provided enough or adequate information, why should people have to contact you for details? As the seller you need to explain to all parties what the item their buying is. Im not saying you do this, im just talking in general.

i don't think that closing the thread is the best way to do it.
Not all of the people post "i am interested" or "PM sent" as you told. Maybe somebody want to ask more detailed question and it's much better to ask it in thread because somebody else might have the same question and in that case you will not have to answer on the same questions again and again.

I can see where you are coming from but people must be allowed to post questions if it could benefit other users, stopping people from doing so could help scammers.

    Thanks Brian

Well like for instance I sometimes sell Adwords vouchers.

I say it is worth 100 bucks and should work worldwide. Somebody then replies and says I want it...pm me. I mean come on....if you want it you PM ME.

Threads like that don't need responses.

Hey, it used to be that the OP would appreciate the bump, however, the admin has corrected this so it doesn't work as a bump. All you have to do is report the thread and ask a moderator to "please" clean it up. :) Remember the seven day ban?

This is acceptable, but PM ME is not :) you've got a good grasp of it.

I don't tend to report posts like that, however annoying they are. I don't want to get an infraction for just reporting everyone..

When you see one post like that, you usually find thread riddled with them. Report the first one and state other similar posts in thread.

I can see the point of wanting to keep things cleaned up but why not give them a high point infraction which takes awhile to go away they will just come back and do the same after a seven day ban

Well, okay. A seven day ban is not punishment enough then? Perhaps you are right, but more than that may cause them to create a dupe account - some can wait a few days and learn a lesson, hopefully! We all have our own ideas about what would improve this site - I imagine if we were let loose in the BST there would be a LOT of deletion going on with my mouse. I've mentioned that I would help in the past, but was never contacted. Maybe I am not a good candidate because I have my own history of rule breaking.

I used to report a lot of stuff on Dp, but now I just wear blinders as I feel like I dont have much impact here and it is a slow process. I do moderation on a couple of forums and I have zero tolerence for spammers and they are banned perm, that's the way the Admin wants it. ha!

But DP is just so HUGE!!
