Is it possible to have a high serp and get low traffic?, I am in serps on page 2 of Google for a very competitive keyword however the traffic is like a few hits a day, surely I should get some decent traffic still or is it all about page one?
this is all very keyword-case dependent on your specific market, check keyword analysis tool for a sample of daily hits etc...
Hi Thanks for reply I have just done a check and the Global monthly on the keyword phrase is 5,000,000, im on page two for that keyword and only getting a few hits a day if that :-(
Is that exact search results? You may want to check only for exact searches and use Google sktools to confirm the numbers.
Hi I used Google Adwords and that was the global monthly result for the exact keyword im on page two for, any ideas why the traffic is just a trickle?
it happens because i m 3rd for a keyword that is searched 600k in a month in adwords , but i get only 20k in a month. it depend from counrty to country cauz ur site may be in low serp in other country...
Thanks for info, bit of a sickener, i mean im getting like 2 or 3 hits a day it just seams way off to me :-(
maybe there is something in you meta title and description that looks like your avatar picture here if you are talking about "free iphone" you are number 23 on my google.com search
No it's not matter of meta title and description. It is something else and I am also waiting for right reply.
without knowing the keyword, it's a bit hard to offer any advice. Usually the monthly search is for the term without quotes, while the actual traffic is way less than this.
I thought my good looking picture may entice more traffic , 23 for .com and 16 .co.uk, never mind maybe searches are down over this whole iPhone 4 reception thing :-?
You can be correct, but Meta Title and Description have much influence on how many visitors will you get.
actually, most of visitor don't go to the second page for searching what they want. so, your site don't have chance for them to click! if your site in page 1 at top 5...it maybe a problem.
My meta and description could do with a tweak but im afraid if I do then I will drop again, anyones advice is welcome.
dont change meta elements, they are good... the problem is sometimes that people find what they want beffore... let's say you are chasing something special and unusual, you will search even till 20. page to find that... but, if you search popular things you will find your answers on a first page, for sure, and if you need other stuff that 1.page websites will also lead you somewhere... so, like others said, maybe 3. page on google com is not enough, or 2. on co.uk... many many different factors and estimations for different niches...
Thank you that does make alot of sense I never really thought of it that way before, I just thought surely I would get more than a couple of hits for page 2 or even 3 but maybe its one of those cases when I just wont :-( (time to work EVEN harder). My meta hasn't got a capital letter in front of the word free at beginning would it make a difference if I just changed that? someone told me search engines hate very small changes to site? and it is poor grammar maybe that could be a small factor too, what do you suggest please?
don't worry about that letters... small or capital letters - the same... about changes... google does not hate small changes, there is no logic to that... if you have spelling mistakes you need to change them... when you think about SEO think what is logical, that's 80% of SEO, pure logic another useful info about visits and traffic, related to keywords... there are "general" keywords and keywords that are target specific... so, have in mind that stuff... let's say you are web design company... everybody will chase "web design" but that keywords is not convertable, even if you get traffic... web design will be searched even if you offer services, help, free stuff, or something else... but if someone types "cheap web design services" that is much less searches but who will type that - people who are looking for cheap web design services So, if I do SEO, I can have good positions for that keyword but 99% of searches just want's to learn seo, need advices, or maybe competition... So, the key is to find keywords that you can convert into something you offer! Less searches but higher percentage of clicks and sales That's why many people fail in their seo campaings... they just know that ther is on-page and off-page seo... keyword research and breainstorming step is more important... Also, when you target a phrase you should either go for top10 or dont waste your time at all
That is excellent, so I will correct the grammar for the title and description, rest is ok on the actual pages. If I find some of these other longer keyword phrases do I just alter my page text to have it in there somewhere that it will make sense and then add the new long keyword phrase to my meta keywords tag? Im going out now so will have to read your answer later, but thanks again you have been a great help.
It's about page 1. The first 3 listings really. You will get a some traffic though from it, like your getting, a few a day.
