Tips marketing a music leasing site? Help me maximize (60-70k industry)

Hey guys I was wondering if you could give me a few tips on how to advertise my website (well its a soundclick page, RicanJoe<dot>com ). Im in a very tricky situation than most of you. Im already doing some manual work on major social sites, but I would like to start investing more in an effective marketing campaign that targets the people who my service is aimed for.

My situation is different from, say a blog or niche site.. what I have is a music profile on a site called Soundclick (I would like to post a link but last time I got in trouble.. not sure why..let me know if it would be ok to post) Ive spent lots of money with poor results on yahoo and facebook ads.

The way my business works is I create music (Im a digital music composer) in my home studio and place it on my page. Once I gain traffic and more people play my music, my page climbs their (soundclicks) charts, bringing me closer to more artists that pay to lease music (or exclusively purchase music for hundreds). See in my buisiness, the more plays and higher chart position you have the more people will buy (lease).

I have been making sales but very slowly and I am now looking to invest in bringing in more traffic and paying artists to increase my sales. There are top producers who do what I do on soundclick and are making bank (60-70k per year, google it). I know there are some marketing experts on here that could help me out.

    Regards,
    Joe

If I get what you said correctly, you are a producer and you sell beats to artists, right?

So if that is the case, you need to create a network of artists who will buy your beats. Try giving some stuff away for free to successful local acts.

If you are looking to promote through the web, join communities. There must be communities/forums in your market. Create partnerships with people where you cross promote (ie, find some artists who are willing to promote you while you promote them).

I don't know what sort of exclusivity sound click or other similar sites have, but you should try to get your beats on as many beat sales sites as possible!

Also, get your own website. Drive traffic to your own website through the various means you already do, social media etc.

As for yahoo and facebook ads, don't bother with those on a small budget...Google adwords give the best traffic and you can get reasonable results with $1 per day if you set it all up properly.

@ zhoom yes I sell beats, and thanks for the advice helps alot! Its a very competitive game. I will also check out ads words.

@ Giamatti thanks that helps, the crazy thing is that I really dont know how the top successful producers advertise, Ive been studying them for quite a while. I knew that a key point of making sales on soundclick is the layout design and look so I went ahead and did that.. but they really dont have a main site they just have .COM a domain name that forwards you to their soundclick page.

Thank you guys this will help me make a better decision as to what I might do.

I think the only reason they remain on top of the charts is because they have been on the site for quite some time and have gathered a substantial amount of plays.. im sure they dont advertise much as far as doing something like AdWords. I was thinking doing something like an adwords campaign could boost my chart positions greatly... but after using yahoo with poor results I lost interest in these.

@ Luigi777 yea man I have a youtube channel and I advertise my music on it. Im trying to become a youtube partner. Youtube has invited me to their shared revenue program where you give them permission to place ads on my most successful vids. I wouldnt say im bringing in soo much traffic from youtube to my soundclick page (and turn that into sales).

Not sure, it looks like a paid clicking service.

There are scammers around doing this sort of thing and it would almost definitely be against your terms of service agreement with Soundclick. They are bound to have some sort of tracking where they look at average hits and if yours jump dramatically it will flag. Or they will look at click quality and again, flag you if the quality is low. I wouldn't advise these sort of campaigns but if you do it, be very very careful...

I think the best way for you to expand is to simply give yourself a bigger client base. If you are only selling through sound click, you are limiting yourself to whatever traffic that specific site gets.
