Smack talking your friend

You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?

Well, I'd definitely talk smack back to the people and I'd make sure to tell them that Karma is a beach (you know what I mean) and that pretty soon it'll come back and bite them in the rear.

I think less of the gossipers and basically don't want to talk to the gossipers anymore. I'd probably bring it up with them as they're being pussies for not confronting my friend directly.

 

I really hate backstabbers but I won't tell my friend, I am sure they will find put eventually that he/she is talking behind their back.

 

Well, backstabbers should be backstabbed by fellow backstabbers as well. It is simply their nature to backstab each other.

 

I try to return their conversation and if they don't stop I apologize and leave them but I don't tell my friend.
