I understand that content is king to get good rankings, but if you have many sites how is it possible to get good articles for all of them, surely there isnt enough hours in the day to write thousands of words that are relevant and good for the reader. Do you buy the content?....isnt that expensive in the long run? Opinions please
Well, content isn't King to me, it's just a Prince. In the same way, promotion is a Prince too... All working under a King, Traffic. You need promotion to bring people to your site, and you also need good content to hold their interest (revisit).
You probably can't write good content for all of your sites every single day. If you own many websites you have more than one option. -You can change the posting frequency of your sites. If you split up the sites that you publish content for then you wont have to write for every site every single day. If you find that you own too many sites that require posting then change the posting frequency to something like one article every 2 or 3 days. This way you can evenly distribute your available time to all of your websites. -You can purchase content for your sites as well. Content really isn't too expensive. Depending on who you hire you might be able to get articles for as low as 2 or 3 dollars per article. The more talented writers will probably charge more. In the long run lots of people have actually found success by only purchasing articles. This way they can focus their time on promoting the website while other people are writing content for the website. Either way content normally is king, as long as you can keep pumping out articles, combined with site promotion, you can get good traffic to these sites.
Do a little research, there are plenty of places to find good content written by decent writers. You could even negotiate lower prices if you promised them long term jobs with your websites. The key mate is work smarter, not harder. Trying to write content for so many sites will just suck all your time, and energy that should be spent on a more aggressive SEO strategy.
ezinearticles, hubpage, squidoo, ... they have have one thing common.. they publish user generated content.. users submit articles, and have their links, and those websites have millions of articles all for free..
When you are stretched to that level, you must be doing well on number of sites you own... hence hire a writer to help you... My advice, if you are not making money with the first, then don't start the second unless you have time to spare...
Either hire some high quality and dedicated writers for a good amount of money or sell your other websites and concentrate on your best website. I'm sorry that's the only logical answer I can think of.

Content is so important. You can rearrange the need of you website again and see which site need the most update one. Then you can come up with a new idea about the routine of new article per day for those site. One more thing is that you can gain benefit from guest post for unique content by giving free backlink for each unique guest post.

Good content won't write itself. You either have to write it or find someone to write it for you that can work within your budget. Sadly, what happens too often is people pay very little and they get content that makes their sites lose respect from readers and search engines. No one has mentioned autoblogs yet. They collect information from article directories or different places and place it on your site. Proper credits can be given. LINK If the autoblog is correctly set up, it is actually an asset to the internet for information.
Autoblogging blogs can be decent for information as they are hub pages of information, but when it comes to unique content, you really want to "own" everything you put on your site, vs just rehashing it over and over in autoblogs.
