DP moderators are very much fond of sending infraction without knowing rules..
I got two infraction for starting a thread,
one was about giving aways free .edu link
second was about selling .gov site list..

I have been through rules of DP thoroughly & found no restriction anywhere about it.
It seems to ban & sending infractions to members is DP mod's hobby..

I also had one for apparently boosting my post count. But i am new and had only read half of the rules at the time. Joined a thread where it seemed everyone was asking the OP to send them details and was telling him that they had sent a pm. I therefore, jumped on the band wagon and said the same thing.

    Hence my first infraction.

Sorry to say but digital point moderating is of very low quality.

I got 3 infractions on 3 posts saying "you have posts with no value". That posts were posted in my own thread saying "I have sent you pm with details, kindly, check and let me know if you need anything els".

DP is much over moderated this is why traffic of dp has gone down a little, and active members are also went lower.

DP members aren't the ones that send infractions, the moderators do. They know the rules like the back of their hand. If you think an infraction wasn't given fairly, starting a thread isn't the answer, it will get you another infraction. You need to PM an admin or mod and request further details as to why you got it.

    So, you basically deserved it.

All the mods don't get paid, they do a great job if you open your eyes a bit more and look at the big picture. Stop wining about infractions, it's your own fault for not reading the rules.

That is a completely valid reason for an infraction. Posting PM sent messages aren't allowed, and you would have known that if you read the rules.

Its dictatorship, don't like it, leave the forums. Its not like the admin is going do anything about the moderators targeting real posts rather than spam. My opinion and watch me get an infraction for this.

If you dislike how they do things at DP, leave. It's really that simple.

I must say, Digital Point is over-moderated, and it does seem the Moderators like to give infractions for anything possible.

However, it's a big forum, and they can't spend loads of time warning users via PM etc, so i suppose infractions are the way to go. It would be nice if the total infraction points needed before a ban went up to 15 though, as infractions here are very easily earnt and i will probably get one for posting this.

It is very common in DP.

I've received 5 infractions today - out of which 2 are real infractions, I agreed.

Other 3, are for stupid reasons.

I've created a service request from providers to sign up newsletters in various websits which the moderator who moderate the thread categorize as 'Account creation' thread and deleted it. The foolishthing is, this thread is very very old.

WTF they did in these days I dont know.

Another thread I've requested people to work on an excel sheet.

I've posted a similar job couple of days back which was taken and finished by a member already and asked to close that thread.

Now I've created a new task which is entirely new, but gave infraction as 'Duplicate post'.

    DP Sucks.

Stop complaining about legitimate infractions, if you don't like DP, there's a logout button at the top right. Click it, and never log back in again.

I don't know why people don't follow the guidelines when it is already mentioned in the starting of Rules. "Use Your Common Sense"

I have tried to be as detailed as I can, so here we go:

First of all, they are not getting paid for giving an infraction. Nor they are getting paid for moderating. So, you can't tell that "ban & sending infractions to members is DP mod's hobby". You got infraction because you break the rule. Now let's get some more detailed into that:

    1. You posted a thread in Freebies. You posted a "link packet" that related to Angela & Paul and similar. As per this sticky it is not allowed that is the reason you got infraction.
    2. You need to post that thread in Buy/Sell/Trade section as selling something outside it is not allowed. :)

    Ok, here is your case:

Firstly, you need to read rules completely that is why it is mentioned above when you sign up. In your case, you posted something like "Please PM me xxx" which is not allowed as per the posting guidelines rules.

    Proof?

    Your case:

As said to above person posting something like "PM sent", etc. is not allowed. You can check rules about it here.

Actually, Admin is not blind. He sees what every people do. He also sees closely what Mods do. We had an earlier case where the Admin took decision of removing a Moderator because of abusing the power.

No it is not at all. If you break rule you get punished as simple as that.

    Your case goes like this:

    1. The foolish thing is you are literally blind. If you ever had read a sticky which is there then you won't get that infraction ever. The sticky is located here.

    2. If you post a duplicate thread then you get infraction, as simple as that. (Liers sometimes tell that it was totally different).

DP don't sucks, idiots like you sucks.

If anyone wants help in understanding the rules then read this blogpost. I will also help anyone via PM if anyone needs.

An interesting thread posted without any substance.

Every example of poor quality moderating given in this thread is totally incorrect as all the infractions mentioned are legitimate.

Your best bet is to read the rules, learn from any infractions and stop blaming others for your own mistakes.

    Thanks Brian
