I can vouch for using Recuva to retrieve deleted files. There are several free tools on the Hiren's BootCD 10.5 and 10.6. You will need another pc to download the ISO image then burn to CD.

I used a tool called EasyRecovery, which worked really well with Vista. I am sure it works well with 7.

I've used EasyRecovery in the past, it was quite easy to use in my opinion.

This is a great software, I agree.

But if you already copied new stuff on your hardrive, then deleted some others... It's almost impossible to recover them.

Sometimes you're lucky, other times you're not.

    So, good luck!

Before trying anything, just make sure that you don't overwrite any of the area in your hard drive. Better, use a write blocker in between. If you need any help, feel free to PM me.

From my experience, if you really want to recover your data intact you will need to pay for it. Because even if you use free software for recovering it, there is no assurance that the recovered data is still intact. If the data you want to retrieve is very important then I suggest that you look for a paid retrieval service.

9/10 the best software to use is the one(s) given upon purchase. Depending on the manufacturer you may already have a system recovery tool on your system.

With due respect, system recovery tools don't recover the user's data. They are only useful for restoring the OS and the softwares. Moreover, they even also eliminates further chances of the data being recovered by overwriting the OS files.
