Hey guys what's your take on Mac's vs PC's? I own a PC, but if I had the cash, i wouldn't even think, and would go and buy a mac right away. I've read somewhere in a newspaper (PC related) that the G4 mac at 1.25 GHz dual was faster than a Dell Pentium 4 with 2.4Ghz. Look at this test for example: in photoshop, resize x10 on mac takes 4 sec, on dell 13. gaussian blur, mac=14.9, dell=41.5 unsharp mask, mac=11.2, dell=42.2 Resize / 10, mac=1.4, dell=19.3!!! Now isn't that a difference? Plus their hardware box (the computer case) is so much hotter!
The new Mac are all Intel Duo-Core based systems. The beauty is that it gives you the best of both world, Mac and Windows environment in the same package. What more can you ask for ? My next PC or laptop would be Mac base too.
All the new macs run off a intel dual core processor which is not the old powerPC processor. So if you download a nice little app called boot camp you can dual boot windows and mac os x on your mac
lol, but who would want a buggy little windows running on a beatiful machine as that one? i know I wouldn't.
True the only use i would use it for would be to play games. But since it is windows it can pass on viruses through the HD into Os X
I have gone away from games a long time ago. But even for games I don't think you must have windows, I think there are windows emulators which you can use to run windows programs. Not sure if that's going to be a problem for games, as some of them use OpenGL and DirectX (ms tech) to run, which I don't tihink is available for Mac. But at last, Macs are mostly for work, and more often for work which requires mass amount of resources.
I mean the options are open to you, with the new Intel based Mac, you have the options to run Windows if you need apart from the Mac OS X applications so you have the best of both worlds in a neat package. I am a software developer mainly for Windows and I did some programming for the Mac too. So now with the new Intel based Mac, I no longer need to face the prospect of carrying two laptops each time I go out, I can do it on one machine
For work. Hell No. Mac's are for playing with ram thirsty 3d animation apps lol. I got like 8 app's going at the moment. I would call a mac a home/work system
I've heard Apple owns on Photoshop. Do you know, did the PC have decent RAM? I wouldn't trust a Dell to "move" very fast in most cases.
I've had Macs since they were introduced in the mid-1980s, when PCs came without a mouse. Back then there was no other computer that would do desktop publishing, so I had no choice. In the years since PCs have come a long way, for sure, but anytime I've had to use a PC I've been amazed at the system complications compared to Macs. And Microsoft is spam central as far as I'm concerned. They want to own you and your machine! The latest crop of Intel-based Macs are perfect for making the change from PCs. Go and find out how a computer can really change your life and be easy and fun to use. (PS, I don't own Mac shares!!)
lol, me neither. (the shares thing) I've always been in love with macs, but they're just too expensive, so I have to sit with this bug-box, and keep away the insect-killer spray away from it, or the whole thing would die.
lepoard will be out soonish but porblalby when they release it they will also bring out new mac book pros and new macbooks.
well the G4 is better than the Pentium 4, but its hard to compare they are two diff processors if u wanna compare then u should do one of the new core 2 duo macs vs. one of the dell core 2 duos with same ghz and ram and all that then we can really compare
Well i dont use photoshop that much for those kind of effects so it doenst really affect me ... everything goes fast and smooth on my pc and im not ready for a huge change it would mean to start programmin, ftping and browisng the web on a mac
I have been using an imac g5 for a year now and there is NOTHING I regret. The only thing that made me sad was that I couldn't play Chip's Challenge, but today I just found a similar game for Mac OSX. A tip for anyone buying a mac, get a good mouse (mighty mouse gets dirty and the scroller stops working) and get some more RAM (512mb just isn't enough).
