Hi, One of my friend wanted to book a domain from godaddy, I told him to go through my affiliate banner. He did as explained and completed the domain purchase. I was seeing the stats afterwards, there was no sale recorded and not even a lead. WTF is these?
yeah thats why they start the affiliate schemes. So i guess its okay as your creating business for them but im sure they should still count your referal. Not sure why though.
I have asked my question with CJ at the moment. Let me see what they reply. There is no point in continuing with such rubbish as its waste of time and ad space.
I highly doubt CJ is cheating. I often wonder about advertisers though...after all, its up to them to report whether the click turned into a lead or sale.
It does happen sometimes that you do not get credit for a sale , I cannot prove it , but there is no way you can prove it otherwise either . You totally rely on CJ or the merchant in these situations . I hate to say this but it is true . Double check your links also , make sure your affiliate codes are in them , and yes you should have no problem asking your friend to buy through your affiliate link, after all we all trying to make our visitors to be " friends " and buy their stuff through our site . stojan
sure you can, it an acceptable way of promoting your website. not different from using flyers or mailing
I would be surprised if it was CJ cheating you from the commission, I don't believe they get their cut unless you get yours. And with most affiliate programs the merchant puts a code on the "success page" which tells the affiliate network when a sale occurs, at least that is how I understand it. A merchant that "screws" with it's affiliates commissions can't succeed long term -- as a merchant I want my affiliates to make as much money as possible as it is better for me. The commission and fees are already priced into the product so it is no big deal.
I have observed and experienced this same fact at CJ and Clickbank so I ended up stopping all promotion related to these networks In fact CJ was "relaunched" not long ago, let's say one or two years probably after its cheating activity. My anecdote comes from 2004
Some advertisers *are* cheating the system. I have same experience. It's not CJ's fault, advertiser just don't want to pay hefty commission. People are afraid to complain to CJ because the only way publisher know that advertiser is cheating if he/she/friend bought using their link and they don't want to tell this to CJ.
yes, i was cheated out of godaddy commission several times. I dropped CJ as I had issues with other advertisers too
