Domain Length - How Long is Too Long?

I am working on a new site, and I found a good .com domain name, with 2 keywords plus the word review, both very high ranking with over 2 million monthly global searches.

If my domain was 19 charchters, would that be too long?

19 character name would not be considered too long and very tough to remember... particularly if the words used are very common and frequently used. :)

What if I was to use just 2 words, keep it at 12 charchters, and use a .net? What would be better?

I would personally prefer this option over the former.... simply to restrict my domain name to have just the keywords and to keep it short at the same time! But if there is already a tough competitor using the very same name on .com, I would naturally go for the first option.
