i have a problem. i created a new blog 4 months ago, i submitted the sitemap to google webmaster tool, and it shows submitted URLs 1,474 and 1,168 URLs in web index. [All my posts are unique and cs passed] but everytime i type "site:mydomain.com" in google, it only shows 4XX results. When I submit a new post, it will index within 2 hours, however, one of my old post must be removed from google no matter how many links i had built for that post. I am wondering if google set a maximum indexed pages according to the pagerank? my blog is: http://thebasicsofanything.com
you raise a really good question, sorry I don't know the answer but I'd also like to know more details about this
Hi Chenting, First of all PR 0 dosnt mean xxxx amount of indexed pages, in fact i personally do not care about the pagerank because it's not best way to determine quality of your site. A PR 0 site may have more indexed pages than PR4 site. However if you find a "drop" in indexed pages, then it's something wrong, but if Google shows decent no. of indexed pages, no need to worry about that too. Also, Google never display 100% backlinks or indexed pages.. For blogs, I observed that most of the cases pages go to archives does not appear in site:www.examplesite.com but they do appear in natural searches. But if you update your old posts, they should comeback again, try updating your older posts and keep an eye on them.. you may find some difference in results. Thanks!
I'm sorry to say that I don't have any exact answer to your problem. But I face a problem exactly opposite to yours. I submitted a sitemap long back with 100+ links and out of which only 5 seems to be indexed. I don't have any exact idea what exactly the error is. Just waiting for a day when I found my links to get crawled.
