Let say I want my site to mainly rank for two keywords : keyword1,keyword2 which kind of domain would rank better to google and other search engines? www.keyword1keyword2.com or perhaps www.keyword1-keyword2.com ?
A hyphen won't make a significant difference in the rankings as compared to the non-hyphenated name so I would say go for www.keyword1keyword2.com
My onkel who don't know much about computers says that keyword1keyword2 is better. I think he has right because he is an average user.
I beg to disagree. Matt Cutts(Google Guy) already told the significance of these in URL to be SE frienldy . The 2nd URL is much better in SE perspective.
With SE friendly in mind, the closer the words are together are important to SE's too. I don't think that you will find too much difference though in the eyes of the SE's, but the non dashed version is more easily remembered by the user... Also, the SE's including Google seem to pick up non dashed versions pretty well.
If all other things are equal the hyphenated version would edge out the non-hyphenated version since most searches will have a space between the terms in the phrase. However the edge is too small to sweat it. If you have a site URL that you expect to use in other formats(print, broadcast etc.) then go with the non hyphen version since it is more user friendly for direct type in traffic. Good luck.
I do agree with this.. a hyphenated domain has more advantages in SEO point of view. But resale value is the other way around sadly..
For seo oe serach bots www.keyword1-keyword2.com is preffered, but i dont buy it if www.keyword1keyword2.com is avaliable, i buy domain with out - in bw.
i will go for www.keyword1-keyword2.com it will get benifits to targeting both the keywords.but one more thing is that u have to optimize your site acordingly.
Just explanation of my previous post, I will develop keyword1-keyword2.com , but I will also buy keyword1keyword2.com and redirect it to first one.
I came in not really knowing which one to choose. At first i went with both and now Im am still sticking to both but that is not very helpful since it is kind of obvious. Every option you can take, 1 or 2 has been said. Just to recap, the second one has that hyphen so it does have the advantage. If you have both, you shoud probably optimize that one more then.
