I have come across many PR5 sites with 0 Google backlinks. I always wonder why these websites can get a PR5 when the Google backlinks is 0. Are backlinks still important in Google PageRank calculation? If the answer is yes, then why these sites get PR5? Does Google hide the actual number of backlinks from us? In case you're wondering whether these sites actually exist, two of the sites that I come across today are http://www.theaets[dot]org and http://www.multimedia.co.cr/verlinks[dot]php
For years Google has decided not to include all of the backlinks to a site in the results. This is nothing new. Google has made it very hard to trace the whys and hows to why some sites are ranked much better than others, and will continue to do so, so that people cannot expliot their search technology. Hexed
No, organic inbound links are always important for page ranking. It's just that Google does not show all the backlinks.. Try yahoo and you will see better results: https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.c...wm=i&bwms=p&bwmf=u&fr=yfp-t-500&fr2=seo-rd-se
Well it really depends on alot of things. 1. Is the backlink from an established website? 2. Is the backlink from a themed website? (i.e. if you sell rings, does the backlink come from a website with the theme 'rings' or something related?) 3. What is the age of the backlink? 4. Is it a reciprocal (i.e. are you linking back to this web site?) Give yourself 1 point for a 'yes' in #1. Give yourself 2 points for a 'yes' in #2. Give yourself 1 point for every year in #3. Give yourself -2 points for a 'yes' in #4. I'd say if you have a total score of 1 or greater then you should probably get some credit for the link. Of course you could get 5000 backlinks with a score of -1 or 0 and still get the same effect of 5 backlinks with the score of 3-4. Obviously my formula is a HUGE GENERALIZATION, but trust me, I've been around long enough to make generalizations Hexed
I have a PR5 website with not backlinks, no promotion and almost no content. It has been stuck at such pagerank for 3 years now, though the site was established 6 years ago.
Your seo formula is very logical and useful. Thanks for sharing. So, having a reciprocal link with a relevant themed site will get 0 point based on your formula. And that's not all because the link will get 1 point for every year. So, it's still worthy to exchange links...
Remember this is a huge generalization and it's not worth diving too much into this "formula." However, yes, of course it's worth it to still exchange reciprocals.. however not near to the point where it is worth it to exchange one way or three way links. You might have to exchange hundreds of reciprocals to junk websites to equal three good three way links or one way links. I'm sure everyone can agree on this. Hexed
I'm sure it's not a temporary glitch in Google. I monitor a site and Google shows 1 backlink six months ago when it was PR5 and it is now PR5 and 1 backlink too.
As others have said, Google does not display all backlinks. If you go to yahoo and search: linkdomain:www.theaets.org you'll see that 'theaets' has 51 BLs. /tom/
Because google doesnt report backlinks properly, you were right , they hide all /most /some/ a few of them.
This is my experiance with Googles backlinks. I have a site (created in March of this year) that had hundreds of banklinks with Yahoo! and MSN. Google recognized zero. When the PagRank update came around, the site was given a 4. Still no G backlinks. Finally Google recognized 17 backlinks - in contrast to Y! and MSN'a 2000-3000. Now on certain datacenters, it is showing 68. I thought it might just show the most relevant ones, but that is not the case. Whatever the rhyme or reason, I don't care anymore.
I've just discovered that Google shows backlinks from DP forums! I'm sure this is not something new to you guys but why's Google showing backlinks from DP forums and not other sites? Hmm, I think Google regards DP forums as trusted sites!?
hehe.. thats due to diffrent datacenters being used from different locations. Now a backlink update is going on, so all the sites will show the same number within a week or so. You may use this datacenter for updated count. http://64.233.187.104/search?q=link:www.mysite.com
