Can you people imagine that what will happen if Google closes the blogger.com?

Yes.I can imagine it. And in this case people will use another free blog system.
But Google will not do it any time.

That will be a big loss for Google I think, they ran it so more people could place adsense ads that can't accommodate on Google serp alone...

I think this thread should be in the chat zone. This is a Google forum where speculations on something not important due to its unrealistically question is not that contributory to this subforums quality.

They will not close blogger since they are second biggest blogger community. If they will then no worries because my all blogs are paid and using wp.

It's not gonna happen. Think about it thats like Adobe shutting down Photoshop and making all of the currently used versions unusable. Google makes a lot of its money via adsense and adwords which are both tied in a pretty little bow with blogger so it's just not gonna happen. And users would just use wordpress which i'm sure Automattic wouldn't complain about as they would make a significant amounts of cash from it.

I think Google Page Creator was phased out a while back in favour of Google Sites.

Has there been talk of this actually happening, or is this just idle speculation?

Even though I'm not a blogger I wouldn't think Google would drop something like Blogger.com. there is too much profit for Google involved. Worst scenario would be Google to sell it but even that chance is very very slim.
But regardless of that, if I ever decide to blog so I never would rely on a free blog site. I always would prefer being independent and install wordpress or whatever on my own webspace.
I read before here in this forum someones blog accounts got just closed without any further notice. And I would hate that to happen for whatever reason with a site that I established and I did all the SEO and marketing for.
    Just my 2 cents

    Cheers

I can't see this ever being the case but if for whatever reason it did happen there would be a lot of upset bloggers out there that's for sure

I can't imagine it, but did you know that users of bloggers continues to increase. Maybe google could have to closed bloggers, because on other day there was a blog that was deleted by blogger. :D
