Yep, definitely. It's always better to have manual generated content because aside from Google liking it more, the readers enjoy it.
I would suggest writing unique content instead. IF, and this is a big IF you succeed, it will take years to do so with duplicate content. In the end, it is much easier to work harder in the beginning. It pays off huge!
Wordpress Direct is a pretty sweet platform for auto blogs as well. WP Mage if you can get your hands on a working copy.
I used FeedWordPress back when I autoblogged (later realised it was a waste of time and resources). It did exactly what it was supposed to.

i used WP-O-Matic... works well so far.... I just learned what a "cron" job is and set one up. It's a cool feeling to see automatic blog posts regularly filling in without me doing anything!
