I know that the reason why people love it, is the intense amount of user interactivity - in other words real-time interactivity. But I would like to know more. Is it because of the navigation, is it because of the colors, is it because of the clever logos or icons? I need feedback. I'm doing a project similar to facebook, but not in the social media industry, however. What made you go like "Hey, I'm on facebook! I love it!" what made you want to put out word of mouth? How can I improve what facebook isn't improving user experience?
because it focused on marketing and making itself be known before trying to get $$$ also the layout used to be simple to use unlike myspace full of awful javascripts and pop ups.
I agree... I remember when I first signed up, it asked me to submit my password for my email account. It made it look like it was just the next step in the signup process, but really what it did was use your email to send out invites to everybody on your contact list. Kind of sneaky.. but it worked well for them. I think Facebook is successful because it is sympathetic to users who don't know a lot about using computers/internet. It is very rare that you come across and cyptic programming/computer speak on their site. All messages are in plain english and very personal. Additionally it is very clean, simple, and functional aesthetically.
I agree and disagree. MySpace did a great job at first at luring people who did not want to pay for a spot on the internet to have their own spot. Much like angelfire and geocities did way back in the day. However, where MySpace went wrong is they were idiots and let people pretty much do whatever they wanted to the code in order to make their sites pretty (which in essence made the pages take days to load: See The Simpsons where Homer has his own internet site of garbage on it and wonders why no one ever visits it). Facebook capitalized on the college/university students who were fed up of MySpace, provided a clean environment, and allowed them to network. Eventually with so many people they opened the door and things went well for them. However Facebook is running the risk of losing people because of the annoying "Joe Smith wants you to play Yahtzee Pirates of the Poker Starwars 9 with him" that spams your page. Luckily they've cracked down on this and kept their fan base.
Quite simple it was "tagging friends"! That was totally unique and crazy addictive for many teens... They tagged left, right and center...
I would say Facebook given new life to social networking website by using Ajax Technology effectively with some more new technological upgradations
- facebook connect you to other peoples - facebook as marketing media - facebook as $$$ - facebook is your girlfriend.
Tagging and the simplicity of it. There was no clutter, no music playing in the background, no animated backgrounds. It done the polar opposite of MySpace, which was a good move.
Brilliant! it's not just me! I've started to think I'm going crazy being the only one that didn't get it.
THANK YOU BRO FOR THAT COMPLIMENT.... BE SURE UR NT THE ONE ... I dnt like d idea of putting my own money in Juckerbargs pocket...thats just fooling myself....howeva, now u get it.... lol
